Hello!
Here is one pic which one I have been worked last 3 hours. Please tell me how can I make it more effective and more 3d looking? I think it looks little bit flat now?! Mouth is difficult, too. *Err* What do you think about it? Likes/diskikes?
Thanks a lot for advance! ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Umm, I think because no one is quite sure what your aim is. "Better" is a very widely defined word.
Right now you seem to be using what Hogarth called Synthetic Modeling. Glen Vilipu likes it as well. It is very simple- what is turned toward the viewer is light, what is turned away is dark. It is a good way to start.
But regardless of how you model the forms, I think you need to start with the basics. No color, no sci-fi eyepieces, etc. I would suggest painting from some photos or from life if you are serious. paint what you see. Take for instance the value of the white of the eye. it is almost never that white. The blue of the iris is almost never that blue. Why did you paint it that way? Because the eye gets the most attention from any viewer, and you painted it based on it's importance, not based on it's true appearance.
Get a GQ magazine and try to duplicate what you see in a photo of a head. No scanning or tracing. If you want the full effect, turn the photo upside down and paint it that way. Then you will be looking at the shapes and values as opposed to looking at an eye. paint what you see, period.
You might want to look at that tutorial I did on 3dpalette later on for some procedure with digital paintings. Works with traditional stuff, too.
Let's see your progress... |

Thanks a lot, spooge!
Okay. My aim was little bit wounded.. heh. My goal was trying to make something smoothy with some details. I think that there are many problems with details (like eye etc.) because I didn't use any photos or life models help. I got everything from my mind. Actually I didn't try to paint real man in relations. Phiu. There is lots of work because I paint with mouse - not WACOM or anything.
Thanks for you anyway!!! |

Ops... I forgot to say that my drawing style is like pixel-by-pixel on that picture. That's it. :I

I like the curly lookin design on the cyber stuff, quite different. (despite me waiting with baited breath for some practical cyber design to enter the world. Daily I reapeat the mantra "Cyber punk will never come around until sci-fi makes stuff that won't catch on your clothes or pinch your remaining skin all the time.") |
