Oh, MAN I love my new wacom 9x12 Special Edition USB tablet!!! Wheee!!
Okay, enough bragging.
This is a quick digital painting I did to experiment with contrasts between extreme light colors and extreme dark colors. Was I successful? For the most part, I think so.
I know there are some things wrong with it (most notably the rocks on the left and the...interesting anatomy of the figure), but I'm going to refine it a little later.
Would you like to see a more refined version?
EDIT: Link removed
I know the title's a bit cliched and I may change it on the finished version.

Harnish, i know that you have'nt completed the pic yet, but i could give you a few
guidelines to help you out.Hope you don't mind.
It's a bit confusing figuring out what the guy is suppose to do is he walking up the stair or just standing? Looking at the pose
it suggests that he is walking, but at the same time it's too stiff to be walking.
The light that's comming up from the top
of the stairs is also confusing. Keep
things logic so the viewer don't misunderstand the action in the picture.
The rocks beside the guy looks like water or something. be careful how you shade things. Hard shapes should often be shaded harder than organic shapes.Go harder.
Think basic shapes(cubes, pyramids, balls...)
when you're working on the shadows. That will make it much easier and obvius how
they should lay. I also suggest looking for anatomy-books and start to do figure drawing, That'll solve most problems
Hope this can help you out a little.
Good luck
-Micke

You're right. Looking at the painting, the light and the pose are both confusing.
As for anatomy, I've had a years worth of life drawing courses (which definitely was not enough) but it never hurts to learn more. Will definitely get a book on anatomy and maybe I'll go take that course again.
Maybe I should get a model to do that pose for me or find a photo of a similar pose?
Thanks for the pointers, micke! Anyone else?

::: looks innocent :::
Smudge tool? What smudge tool?
Hehehe. I think I'll scrap this one and work on something different. Still have to get used to working with the tablet a bit.
