I was wondering if any of you. (especially Francis, spooge, or fred) would like to post your custom brushes because I ahve no idea where to start... many thanks !

I'd recommend you'd experiment a little on your own to start of with.. Custom brushes are a very personal thing in what works for an individual. What works for one, might not suit you at all and vice versa. Just rummage around with the default options in the brush menu. Hard edged, soft edged, spacing settings, make some scribbles, define them as brushes... See what works best for you rather than what The Three Amigos came up with. 
Anyway.. if you're really desperate, do a forum search, Spooge posted a snapshot of his brushes a while ago.
