Hello. I'm new to this stuff...
Although I do make websites...
Anyways I was wondering what tablet is the BEST one out there and what size should I get it. I have been practicin with paper and pencil, then I scan the images and use photoshop5.5 to color and shade them.

it's a never ending tradition
for every newby to ask
for a good pad
so did I
so do you
so evrybody will do
-Amen

but for you request www.wacom.com
they seem to be the best
but also very expensive
cheeper ones could be found at ebay.com

wacom graphire seems to be a good one for starters at least, and it's fairly cheap as well.. actually, that's the one i ordered as well.. can't wait to get it, and be frustrated the first week or 2 trying to get used to working with the thing

Don't get confused between Wacom Graphire and Wacom Graphite! They both often appear next to each other at online stores.

One is a set of A6 tablets in different colours & a mouse. The other is a Graphite (grey colour) special edition of the more expensive Intuous tablets.

Obvious in a shop, but, as I say, they appear next to each other when listed online.

Size (directly proportional to) Cost

IMHO, get as big as you can comfortably afford. I currently use an A6 tablet and it seems to be fine enough. I even do preliminary sketches using it.

Bear in mind that an A4 Wacom will cost around 400 (GBP).

I'm gonna stop there before I start ranting on about the price of tablets...

ceenda :
actually, graphite is just a type of color, the new color of the mac g4. very dark, semi-transparent look. They offer the graphire in the graphite color as well (djeez this is confusing )

i just hope they send me either the normal colored, or graphite colored one, because i don't really fancy those gay imac colors

I just bought a 6x8 Intuos and I've only had it a day. I love it already.

why try and figure a girl out? just let them be -- you know how they act, just go with the flow, and if they don't like you and you're trying to hard just give up, sheesh it's not like there's only one girl in this world for ya.

first they say size doesn't matter only to sluts, then they say my hair was good this way, then they liked it better this way, and then today i got my hair done and wasted 40$ because she change her mind, and then finally after calling a trillion times and talking forever the girl just acts like i don't like her anymore, and then that happens and then... things go on, you get depressed for a few moments, but little does she realize my world does not revovle around her... or maybe she knows i know that she knows that my world doesn't revolve around her and she's thinking so be it! and she really has 4000 lbs. of leaner meat than I -- see?! see where i'm going?? Agghhh it's hopeless!

sorry bout this, just got super ULTRA mad, and still kinda am that all the time i've spent with a girl went to pot just about an hour and 20 minutes ago... DAMMIT!!! GOD DAMMIT WHYYYYYY!!!!

@#%**%%$##$&(^ SHIT!!!

I have a really old 6*8 one. i have heard that it is the optimal size, as bigger arm movements tend to tear up your arm and wrist.

I would like to try the 12 incher (no comments please)

I am pretty happy with it overall, but the driver crashes my machine every hour or so. Death to Macs.

A hole is wearing in the middle of it and I don't see a way of replacing it. Durability is an issue

Uhm Craig.. you can replace the covers. I dunno exactly how old your tablet is. I have an old Ultrapad and even those allow you to remove and stick on a new cover. Good thinking on Wacom's behalf..

Danny

ps. mine's 12 inch. I never use all of it's size, just about two thirds... It's just too damn big.. (does that sound ambiguous or what.. )
