Those are awesome sketches. I like how smooth the shading is. Nice job.

I like the Batman sketch. It would make a real nice painting. If you do decide to work on it more I'd suggest throwing in some variation in the background buildings. Looks like the same architect did the whole city. I'm not too big on the cape either. (I'm a big Batman fan by the way, so I'm prolly just being critical)
On the Shadowman sketch he has a huge bicep compared to the rest of him. Looks like his arm is turning in to him. |

Nice work, Axl! I particularily like the Batman sketch, it almost has an old art-deco poster feel to it with the graphite work. Some good reference for you would be a book by Hugh Ferriss, i think it's called "The Metropolis of Tomorrow". You can get it from Bud Plant Illustrated Books or Princeton Architectural Press (both on the web, I don't know the url's). Some nice architecture drawings from that period with really strong darks and lights, and a lot of depth. |
