I want to practise on my shadings so I juz stroke a few lines and smudge 'em randomly..and this is what i've got..
I still dunno where to use what type of shading(cross-hatch..n stuff..)
I'm practisin inking with pencil (...)
So, enlighten me with some shading/inking tips...

ps: I really gotta fix up the shadin on his groin... it looks hairy...



ps 2 : juz bought 'Spawn: 1st bk'... pretty kewl..

I would title this sketch "Jacked Elf with Hairy Pubes".

Shading is the practical term for people who dont know what it really is.. when you should really be calling it "lighting". Lighting is what makes the highlights and shadows.. not just the shadows as you seem to be indicating. Dont just randomly splot down some gradients. My suggestion is to draw from real life more often, and you might learn more about how light acts and casts shadows. I'm not a huge expert on this, Spooge would probably provide a much larger insight.
