...for your perusal.
Once again, markers and pigment liner with a little bit of prisma pencil where I screwed up. I start with a 20% or 30% cool grey underdrawing much like Vortx, then just build up tones trying to leave the white of the page as highlights, then knock them back with color at the end. Last step is to pick out any highlights I missed with prisma pencils. Sometimes I ink before color, sometimes after. I think this time was before, and then I decided to render it anyway. The helmet guy was just to fill up the page

Hey hey, more concept art. Looks good! It's weird, cuz i'm designing some ships right now that has a similar feel to your's - WWII-ish, retro shapes w/ modern details. heheh..
Only one small comment: the top ship's tail is intersecting the bottom one's tail fin. The bottom one could've been draw slighting lower, so you have two distinct views. Right now they are kinda running into each other. The the bottom view has a damamic perspective, i would make that the 1st read, and fade the second one a bit as the 2nd read. Otherwise, looks good. I especially like the lighting on the top one.
Hey, i just noticed those heat sheilds around the main engine, cool design! Cool little details around the cockpit area too. Damn, now i wanna go home and draw. This is good, you're stuff always gets me inspired..

ps. Shouldn't have bought Chrono Cross. Now i'm torn on how to spend my free time. eerrr...

Nice stuff WM, you just keep on posting new pages of your sketchbook. Why don't you just publish that book instead, make some good money . I will buy it for sure
I can't really give much critiscm, they look awesome to me. Like you said to me in the figure drawing thread, I will have to say the oposite to you...cause I really need more training in area of technical design, everything I do end up looking too round and organic . But now, me and micke will give each other drawing tasks in areas we both lack the most at, so I hope that make me improve
oh well.... I guess I got a bit off topic ..sorry !

Vortx - much true crit here, as applies to presentation. I agree with everything, though I don't usually think in those terms when I'm doodling in my sketchbook. Certainly one of the views should have been dominant... got carried away messing with lighting and color, I guess...
charles - absolutely true - a trick of the light. I should have knocked the colors back a bit on the keel and put a strong highlight on the underside edge of the wing to bring it forward.
Joachim - Thanks! Know any publishers?
I've started on a painting, unfortunately have a busy weekend, so I probably won't be done before next week. Trying my hand at more tech stuff than I've painted before! |

I've been waiting for your next post..
This is just so cool! The spaceships reminds me of something Gimenez could have designed, and the pilot looks a little bit like The A-wing pilot concept that Nilo Rodis did for ROT. I just wish i had drawings like that in my sketchbook!
Thank's for sharing your marker techniques, very useful, gonna try it out right now actually

I don't understand you WacoMonkey... You say that you struggle with digital painting, but your marker sketches are awesome. Why don't you just do the same thing on the PC?
Anyway, these are great. The colors you use in these concepts are very vivid. One question though... When you say 20% or 30% what exactly do you mean? Is that the shade of the marker or something? |

Nice pix, one thing I noticed was ,that the tail of the higher plane, looks a tad twisted as if it needs to be rotated back clockwise, to me it looks like the engine flame would burn the side-tail-wing. They are aeroplanes arent they ? if there spaceships .. why do they have wings , or any other aerodynamic features ?
