Before I order my Wacom 9 x 12 SE (at last, it'll be today!!!! YAAAAY!!! ), I'd like to ask a question that's been bugging me: What, exactly, is a USB connector port? Why is it considered better than a serial connection?

Is USB like the PCI slots on the motherboard? Do you install a card and the tablet interfaces through the card to your computer?

the USB port is the next generation Serial port. its a litle faster than the ordinary serial port.

If you dont have a USB port on your computer i do recomend you to buy a serial wacom...

Both the serial and the usb verion can handle the wacom flawless. (i got a serial wacom, mostly because i want to use it in other OS than win98)

USB - Universal Serial Bus connector. This is a connector port on the back of your computer used for external devices. i.e. mouse, scanner, web camera. (PCI is internal.) USB is faster than Serial and Parallel ports. It also allows you to plugin and remove devices while you are running Windows without have to restart for it to detect them. This is what it looks like... kinda: (by the way this is the best digital image I have done in a long time.. sad)

Thanks for the info, guys!

I checked the back of my computer, and sure enough, it has a USB port. Well...if a port with the letters U-S-B beside it is any indication.

Looks like I'll get the USB version.
