Hi,
I just found some old pair of those red-blue 3d glasses and I was wondering if anyone knows how they work.. That would be pretty fun to draw a 3d picture on the computer. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jesse

I might be wrong but,
if its the type of glasses that has one red one blue lenses you would just have to use red and blue channels slightly offset off the center on your image to give it 3d appearance. Each eye will not see the color that the other eye sees because the lens be it red or blue will block out red or blue color. Each eye will see an image from a different angle making an illusion of distance.

Basically u can do it with a photo or an image after its been taken. I wish i could find my pair, sounds like a very cool idea

look up some dude called Ray Zone, he has done a lot of the 3-d stuff that requires the red and blue glasses. One thing he did, that I'm sure of was a John Byrne, Batman graphic novel in that style. There is a technique of offsetting channels to do the effect, however I'm not totally sure how!! Good Luck

I dont think its that easy.
(just to move some channels bit left or right)

if it's like making thos "two pictures that you'll have to look "cross-eyed"" (damn Im bad at explaining thigs with my bad english =) you'll have to move some parts of pictures more than others (to give it the 3d feel)
things closer to you are more to the left/right(cant remember) and the things that are far back are to the other direction..
did this make any sense?..I dont think so

Yeah, you can't just draw a single picture and offset the red and blue channels and hope it looks 3-D. What you need to do is draw the two versions as if they were taken by cameras 2 or 3 inches apart. If you're just playing around with this, it's much easier to do it in a 3D program... you need to draw the two images VERY accurately, otherwise it'll look pretty broken.

Heh. Or, another thing you could do.... Load up your favorite first person shooter, take a screen shot, step to the left, and take another. Convert one picture to blue, and another picture to red, and overlay one on top of the other. That should give you the effect you're looking for.
