Ive posted a couple of things, but I wanted to contribute to the great lot of artists that are on this forum. I have really learned a ton just watching....I wish I could paint more but time is very constraining for me. This was done in about an hour waiting for a render to finish. Please take a look and let me know what you think...And if youre a Tom Waits fan even better....

Thanks to all the great people in this forum.

Here is the reference for it too....It was just for practice, as I really havent painted anything really recent, unless you count all the production cels for the Rugrats game I worked on.....

Thanks

I'm not one with technical legs to stand on, so I will just relate what seems strange to me without giving any advice on how to change it. I know that sucks but I dont believe in shooting blanks.
The nostrils , left eye and the very shiny look. otherwise I really like it .

by the way . get an album by Holly Cole called temptation where she does tom waits covers. thats if you dont already have it. its awesome.

it might help to think in terms of shapes when working from a photo. i quickly outlined the shape the light made on the face in the photo and in yours makes it a little easier to see the differences i think hopefully that helped

It's not uncommon when people do portraits, they end up looking like the artist. I wonder what qualities of this portrait resemble you?
If you ever get the chance to watch someone who is just starting with portraits, you'll see the resemblance, it's kinda eerie at first. It's even scarier when you do in clay and you see this 3 dimensional morph of yourself and someone else!

T.W. is awesome!
