Hey thanks for that Sam.
I'm at a loss with MAX and 3D in general. where's the best place on the net to go for information.
I am interesed in the details. My drawing is ok but I have no idea how to go about the "pull and weld points untill you have a face" bit. I'm sure you haven't got the time to walk newbies through something as simple as this. so I was wondering what your suggestions were so far as learinig this sort of thing.
Sorry to bug, I feel like an idiot asking, but I have this copy of MAX on my computer and I NEED to learn it to get a job, but I'm getting nowhear fast. I thought seeing as you were so experianced in the field you might have some suggestions. |

Actually the best place to start if you dont know max at all is the tutorials, Im not just saying that to be an ass. I have not gone through the tutorials since r1 but I just opened up the r3 tuts the other day and they are great! I am going to go through some of them. If you dont have the manuals you can also go to http://max3d.3dluvr.com/ thats a great place to start. Good luck and dont get into switching from package to package some one will say "oh lightwave is better or Maya" it really doesnt matter anymore they all have really strong tools just stick w/ one. (I have used them ALL I used to teach maya and light wave but I think max is the most well rounded package out there and w/ r4 coming out there is very little it will not do now.) |

Much apreciated. I've had a look at the tutorials, and they seem good in theory however, the subject matter is pretty dull.
But I'll have another go. I think my problem is mostly attributed to the overwhelming anout of buttons in the app. it's daunting.
Thax for your input

3dluvr.com is great, along with 3dcafe.com. there are a gajillion head tutorials out there, but as said before, make sure you have the 2d shiznit down well; it helps a lot. oh and ref pics are hard as hell to find, so i'm going to buy a digital camera/scanner and get some mug shots of the fam
w/o ref pic:
