As the subject states this is a redo of a pic Waylon posted in a previous thread http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003551.html

I promised I'd post my tinkerings, but I don't really think I've made the pic all that much better. It's different but through playing with the image, it became apparent that waylon's pic was quite well thought out, and it had a good feel to it.
It is an intersting idea to polish up someone elses image. It lets you go into detail in a way that you normaly wouldn't because of image blindness and bordom. Ultimatly I didn't really use this oppertunity all that much becasue I played around with the pose too much.
It gave me the thought though, of swapping pictures after the initial sketch is done. just before you go into the "noodleing" swap and let someone else do it. they get to have their image done by you as well so it's not unfair. but it might get rid of that image blindness.
Just a thought as always

Anyway whadaya think Waylon is it th' shit or is it just shit err....

Here is a huge one for anyone into that kind of thing
http://dove.net.au/~jbrasted/MWredohuge2.jpg

the smaller one

and a close up of the face. the only part that got any real attention so far as detail is concerned

And waylon's original in all it's splendid glory

I fliped the image when working on it for various reasons, so that's why some of the images point different ways. Which does everyone think is better? The original is better thought out because it doesn't point off the right hand side of the page, but I kinda like the other one for some reason.

I've also got a couple of save outs if anyone's interested.

A redo of this redo would be an interesting idea. Anyone interested?

Ohh.... and I hate that 80's airbrushed style red armour, but I couldn't be bothered taking it out. heh....

I liked the frst one, and your version is very sexy too I liked the way you made more details to the hair and added some more color to her clothing.
Hmm, I want to make one too, it's always fun to draw chicks ....but, I have no time at the moment

I like the rework, things that slightly bug are, the eyes seem a bit far apart, and the hip area is a formless. I know there is greebles galore over them, but start with a real solid form under the aromr, and drape the armor ontop of that, the result should be more aesthetically pleasing. Right now it looks good, with a bit more work, it will look great.
I really like the greeble layering in her garb, looks really nice. Has a beautiful loose general quick look to it, very convincing, very solid...

Excellent...

Thanks for the tips Fred, you comments are always usefull and informative. I kinda realised a few of them after I put it up but I'm getting tired and sloppy I may have another shot at it l8er.
I'm glad that you like it.

I still don't know what a greeble is although I seem to be able to use them all the time. hehe... would someone mind explaining this little technical term to my un-educated self.

Joachim- That "I wanna draw something but don't have the time" problem is the bain of all artists, and it always strikes hardest for me when I have stuff that can't be put aside.

Greebles are all the added details and pretty nonsense added to a shot, in film, or on the designs. The nuts and bolts so to speak...If hollywood didn't exist, neither would that word. Back to painting. Have some stuff I want topost this weekend...

Hi. Wow, it's really cool seeing what you brought out of my pic. I REALLY like the face and hair (something I probably should have spent more time on - and in a higher rez. Changing her gloves and boots to strapping instead of just poorly rendered vinyl looks really cool too. (Hope you don't mind if I steal the idea for my next version!)

I like my composition a little better though. Otherwise, like I said, it's really cool having someone else play with your own work. Maybe for my next project I'll return the favor and re-paint one of yours. I seem to recall having saved off a few of your sketches that I liked a lot... I could use a bit more coloring experience.

Incidentally, I haven't had as much time to work on my OWN version as I would have liked (Damnable weddings. Not mine.) I've pretty much just re-worked the background, but it's looking a lot better. Instead of two ugly lumpy pillars of stone, she has a mountain range in the distance (with the moon still above.) I'll post something soon.

Waylon- take any ideas from my version you want. And yeah I'd love to see what you do with some of my sketches.
It is really interesting working with someone elses stuff. we have a tendancy to hide inability with particular poses and tricks. I had to work a bit harder to make this look good becasue there were a lot of things in there that I wouldn't have done. Simply becasue it's my personal preferance not becasue they were wrong. I draw stuff that I can do well as opposed to really slogging it out and solving that elusive anatomy promblem.
