Yea, I started out to do a fast version of the swampy picture, but i got caught up in all the detail, oh well, I learned a good bit by painting it. I had never done anything like this before. It was done in Painter entirely with the airbrush accept for some strokes with the Distorto brush, it's good for making water.

See what you guys think.

Very nice Shane. You should stick around here more often and give out pointers to some of us less-than-thou beings.

cheers,

Very nice Shane. What'd you do, haul your pc out to the nearest swamp with a deasil generator and tablet??

Just curious tho, what res in painter do you usually work with? That princess Amadala (however its spelt) has no less than amazing detail in it.

Thanks guys!

aquamire: No, this is done from a bunch of reference photo's that were posted here a few days ago for people to do as speed pics from. Mine didn't turn out to be very speedy at all, sorry.
I did the swamp pic at like 2000 res, I normally work larger than hat though 3 to 5 k.

R2 aka ROW: I'm not sure what light/shadow you are talking about?

Fred: I worked on it 2 nights in a row, about 4 to 5 hours total, there is a lot of detail there that I didn't really realize until I started painting it, too many damn lilly pads! with tons of subtle color variations

Well Shane, I think I was joking about hauling a pc out to a swamp.. unless your Monet or something, I wouldn't suggest doing so, heheh.

Very nice! Has an almost photorealistic look to it, while maintaining a nice painterly effect...very cool.

But, seriously, enough of the nature pics...lets get back to drawing chicks buddy!

So, any hints at all on this new game you're working on? puh-lease?

what's with all this "whoa hell is this drawn?!" stuff?

i don't know but as hard as i try i can't find anything photo like from that. it's just what it is, a nicely drawn pic. and the 'drawn' bit shows.

That's a great picture man... the best paintings are the ones that make you really wanna be at the place portrayed. Looks like a place I'd wade through as a kid.
