I had a hell of a time doing this, because I'm inept as hell with a mouse, but I'm working on it. I'll include both the original, ballpoint pen version and the coloured one.

Thanks very much for looking at this. I appreciate any feedback, so long as it doesn't bruise my ego, call me down, or otherwise sound nasty. Wait..., but I want you to tell the truth. Oh, sigh. It's so tough when the world doesn't revolve around you.

Thankee for your time!

Love'n'hugs from the Great White North, eh?
Jess

I think you need to copy and paste the URL into a new window.

Your sketch was really nice and I liked the nice linework so I couldn't *not* colour it!
I put a new layer, set it to 'multiply' (so the line work still shows through) and used the paint brush. First I placed the main skin colour down with the paint brush at 100% opacity. Then i put some tones with the paint brush at a lesser opacity.

You should read Dhabih's tutorial and try that out. How did you go about when you coloured your pic? Also, you seem to have compressed your image a lot because those JPEG artifact things are there. I usually compress around 7 or 8.

I don't mean to sound patronizing, just wanted to pass on some tips. I like your sketching style a lot! keep it up!

Here's a thought: I stop beating my head against the wall trying to post the forking picture and post a link? Yes, I think so. Ignore the rest of the stuff on that page, as it has to do with another website. I'm the blond one, though.

Yeeeeeah.

You did a wicked job of colouring the sketch, Jason, and yea verily though I now feel like an untalented nerd, I will post my version anyway, largely because you've got to start somewhere. The picture is really compressed, yeah, I compressed it for the web. And ya don't sound patronizing at all, because when one is new at this, one needs tips. (I being one, of course.)

For me, this character is very African and was meant to be, but I never thought of what she might look like caucasian. Eenteresting.

Love, Jess

Oh yeah, Jason: I'm going to try to do as you suggested by using a new layer, et cetera and see what I can come up with.

I feel so... young. But nevermind. This too shall pass. I need a good dose of humility in my life.
