Very nice proximo, but if I can offer some advice, use guidance lines for your perspective.. or hell, go ahead and do the whole 2 point perspective deal. I get annoyed doing that, so I often eyeball it with a few lines that are somewhat parallel to each other, but still showing distance.

If you notice, on your ship there, the wing the decends into the distance has parts that are slightly large than those in the foreground. Thats a boo-boo.

Anyways, I'm terrible at explaining these things, I need to read a book called Releasing the Spooge Within or something, heh. But seriously, nice job. You might need some improving, but your doing quite well.

***avert thine eyes, Synj***

Get a star wars sketchbook and copy some Joe Johnston or Nilo sketches. make exact copies of them, forgeries. Then try your own design again.

Proximo, you're getting closer
Try to think what the vehicle is able to do..
is it a space craft? aircraft?....
Borrow, or come up with parts that are
similar to other aircrafts.Juan Gimenez often
borrows things from real life that people can recognise and add some of his own ideas
and creates stunning designs for weapons, spaceships and other vehicles. The design will be more convincing if people recognise certain things.
Building model kits can also help since you
get to know each part, and how the different parts are connected. This helps for me anyway
and are only suggestions.

Oh yeah, check out the art of Starwars like spooge said.

Good luck

proximo, when you're drawing space vehicles and stuff, use a logical side also. what i mean is, dont just put lots of bulges and wires and panels, use your brain to determine what and where things should go. like, "this wire is used to connect this to that, which will help fuel that wing" or "this panel contains the governor for the throttle", etc. that way your designs will have a more reason and foundation behind them. i like your designs right now, because the noses of them look sort of like futuristic motorcycles.

You should definetly start off using some geometric form that is defined by perspective; once the placement of your mass is set, you can then build on top of it with whatever style you choose, i.e. geometric, organic, etc. Your existing draft shows some displacement of mass on the picture plane (the starbord side engine on the fuselage is bigger than the port side engine); make sure you've got the perspective thing down before you start eyeballing. -tc
