"digitizer" was what they were called back when tablets were more or less exclusive to drafting applications. They more often than not had pucks instead of pens, and a lot of them were corded.
My dad had a 12" Summasketch for his 386. It had an overlay with all of the AutoCAD R10 functions mapped right onto the tablet, so you never had to use the menus on-screen.

Hi! I am in the market for a pressure-sensitive tablet, so I've been looking over Wacom's on eBay (yeah, I'm cheap ). One listing is advertising a 12x12 Wacom Digitizer. I can find no reference to this on Wacom's site. Does anyone know what a Digitizer is, and how it compares to the ArtZII or Intuos? I'm debating size right now also. I'm not very rich (college student), so I'm primarily looking for an intuos 6x8, or maybe an ArtZII of the same size. I dunno. Anyone got any recommendations? |

Not sure what was meant by "Digitizer" in the eBay ad, but I'm guessing they were' refferring to one of the other pads. You can't go wrong wih an Intuos, IMO. The 6X8 is a great size pad. I've got one, and a 4X5 at work, and I love 'em both >8)

Here's a link to that auction, although I just now realized that it's for Mac, so it wouldn't be any use to me anyway... doh!
4x5 vs. 6x8 is another debate I'm having with myself. Do you find 4x5 to be significantly more limiting than a 6x8?
