This is a sketch of myself done in 10 min. I didn't use any reference, and was basically practicing line quality and pencil variations. If anyone has any tips on cleaning up an image please help!

Guess you're a pretty low profile type of guy.

I love it!
Wish I could do art like that...

I love how you didn't use the boring white background!

I find it amusing when someone says they don't use reference on a self portrait. Your own face is the One thing you probably look at the most in your lifetime!! Sheesh. Anyway..I also like the lack of lineweight and constrained value depth on this piece.

Now that I look at it I realize that I completely screwed the perspective with the glasses. I could also have tried ot make the ear a bit more realistic. Hehe, I am critiquing my own picture. Come on guys, not like I need replies here!

I really enjoy what you have created.

Your lips and profile are a bit confusing the longer I look at them.

but I wouldnt change it . I judge mostly on feeling/mood , no technical skills to back my observations.

I like it! weird perspective...

With 'cleaning up' i think you mean having nothing but solid black lines/areas left?

Open it in photoshop, brightness up, contrast up, select all, copy, open alpha channel, paste into, invert, deselect, blur an ittybit, play with the levels until it's not blurry anymore. Ctrl-click, back to layers palette, make new layer, fill selection with black.

Hope this made sense...

The way in which you've worked the light source on your face seems screwey . . . and like you said, the glasses are strange indeed.

I like the hair . . .

Damn that is one big lens!
