Hey guys, there are some real talented people that post here! So much so that I hesitated posting anything of mine. But you all seem pretty polite and knowledgeable so here goes..
http://xploitzero.tripod.com/images/JediTemple.JPG
Something I was messing around with.. Cartoon/Comic book style meshed with a 3d background I made in Bryce. Anything else I should add? questions? comments? critiques?
Thanks!

its a pretty good image, it looks like a start of a FOX Kids Saturday Morning Star Wars Cartoon, heh =]
there are 2 things you should work on though.. for one, the man's facial expression. he looks a little calm considering hes about to attack a huge cloaked demon man, you should make him grimacing or screaming or something. also, his body doesnt look very poised either, still considering hes about to attack. it looks more like hes jumping off a ledge of that snow mountain, rather then lunging to battle. you should give him a more dynamic/intense look, with arms ready to deliver a striking blow. or, bring up his right arm more, lift his shoulders up higher, and angle his body more so its pointing toward the demon. at his current position, it looks like the demon has a clear strike for the jedi's stomach.
hope that helps =]
welcome to the board, if this is your first post |

Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah I've tried and tried to get my 3d and 2d stuff together for a long time without success, this is the first one that I've been somewhat satified with.
Thx again

heh posted near the same time..
the facial expression is actually on purpose, he's a jedi master in complete control of his emotion and aggression. I wanted them to be totally opposite, Sith Angry and menacing; Jedi calm and collected though still the aggressor. I admit it does seem to take a little out of the picture with his stone gaze however. You're dead on about the poses though. I originally had the jedi and the sith entering from each edge but the sith was getting in the way of the temple on the top right.. but it would be a lot nicer to (at the least) have them farther apart.
Thank ya,

it's not the expression that bothers me; i knew right away that wew were dealing with jedi calm. it's the discrepency between the action and the expression. With such a serene expression we expect more controlled movement, striking at the last moment, that kind of thing. Of course in the movies, all the movements are extremely dynamic, otherwise we'd get bored. Balance. |

Thanks again =]
I'll try something a little more dynamic for my next picture.. I was trying for a introduction to the characters/moment of tension before battle feel for this one.
These are my own characters, I wanted to make a Sith more menacing and evil than both Vader and Maul combined =]
The one on the left is Elal Prulo, Jedi Knight... I am actually thinking about giving him a samurai hairdo.. with the bald spot and the top knot.
The Sith on the right is Darth Achrom. He's a 7 foot tall K'Yess Rak alien. The race itself is fierce but with force ability, he's just mean.
I've been thinking about either starting up a comic for my webpage just to get into the routines of making one again, or continue on with my old one. I was 9 pages into it but my hosting fell out and I haven't done anything with it since... the early issues kinda suck because I didn't know photoshop well when I started it (right out of HS), and I've gotten much better since. So either this Star Wars comic or a Fantasy one I've been working on. I have so many characters vieing for my attention =]
I'll post some more stuff when I get the chance. Glad you guys like and thanks for the advice!

I like your style. Are the characters from the Star Wars universe or are they your own.
I like the poses, looks as though they are about to do some damage. The statue in the background is a nice touch. Nice work. |

I like the whole vibe , mid action etc.
Does the big guy need the tail ? or is it a flapping coat.
The Jedi seems to be eyeing another opponent lurking behind the big guy .
well , in the eye of the beholder lies different opinions.
great stuff. |
