I have really serious problems in getting the values right most of the time. If anyone has some advice how i could get the color levels right it would be really appreciated.
This picture here really sucks because it does not at look 3-dimensional at all (besides the obvious anatomy problems).
just posted so you see what I am talking about.

hey i love the pic , but as you mentioned there are a few problems, here is what i spotted.
I dont feel your colour levels are too off, however it always easier to determine colour and contrast problems after your happy with everything else.
If you concentrate on the upper skull then move onto the lower jaw it will be easiest.
1] I think if your light source is coming from the top right and quite near to the camera. So i feel the light should be most obvious the top right of the skull. This part seems a little blurred and un defined.
I'd also pick out some highlights within the eye sockets on the left hand wall of the socket ( our left. ) And the same goes for the nose cavity. i wouldnt think the nose cavity would be so wide. The form of the farside of the skull in general feels a litte off, and unconnected. There appears to be no bridge to the nose and the eye socket on our left seems akwardly positioned.
Also on the right of the skull there should be an indent or concave bevel running aloing the edge of the eye socket around towards the back casting a dim shadow on itself.
If you dont mind i'll post an edited version of your picture later to demonstrate what i mean ( im bad with words :P )
