Here's a new image, produced on Photoshop and Painter, utilizing both painting and photomontage techniques.
It's a selkie...one of my mythological obsessions, creatures that are seals in the water, but on land they shed their skins and take on human form.
You know, like in 'The Secret of Roan Inish'

Striking image Grant!
What do you mean by photo-montage? |

How much of the girl is photo, and how much is painted? THe arms look a bit too cut out, compared to all the nice blending of the photos in the image. Maybe consider toning the edges of the arms down a bit so they dont have such a cut out appearance to them. The rest of it looks quite nice... |

Here's a 'making of' summary to answer the above questions.
Replies would be appreciated so I don't feel like I'm wasting my time

Hey Grant, fantastic image. And thanks for that little tutorial, that gave me some ideas as well. Do you know what filter you used to find the edges? I really need something like that. Thanks. |

It's one of the standard filters in Photoshop. Just look for it in the menus. It's called "Find Edges". Can't remember which section it's in.
Thanks for the tutorial! Love the pic, although I feel the body is too short. I think it's probably intended, but it does seem awkward, because at first you think she's a syren (as the idea is pretty similar), and there just seems to be bits missing :-P Accompanied with the explanation it makes for a very cool and interesting picture though!

Minor Nudity? Aw.. come on, we can do better than that cant we? J/k.
Beautiful image. That's a real nice photo/img manip you did there.. tho, I dont know whether to call it a manip. Nontheless, quite beautiful. I want a mermaid now. I'd feed her, and.. well, nevermind.
