Wow, I like that dragon. I like the others too, though they're not as clearly defined as the dragon is. Hard to make out specific details (assuming they have any details yet, I think I can make out a necklace on the guy). Good work. |

Wow!! Don't be so hard on yourself, k. Your sketching skills are fantastic -- loose and expressive. I especially love the dragon.
Now let's see if you can clean 'em up a wee bit
Keep up the excellent work.

yeah I usually sketch, cuz I dont have to much patience for rendering.
I like to create, so I waanna make my skethces quick so I can make more.
I dont ever recall having a fully refined piece, but you're right I should try to clean up some of my drawings. |

Great sketches k! Your style is pretty cool. You should try sketching with a blue pencil and then going back over the sketch with a regular pencil when your done. Then you could just photocopy it and everything blue will be gone. Speeds up the cleaning process. |

I say nay to your self proclaimed crapness.
UR good
That dragon is friggin amazing.
one of the skills people usuialy lack is the ability to really let the lines flow.
The trick is to translate that looseness and expression in to a tight rendering.
Although in no way necissary, you should try to really finish something off. It can be a pain but at the end it is very satisfying.
Post more...skethces are good..

All the sketches are solid. Some just more rough than others.
Heart and imagination will only take you so far. You can wish all you want but, if you don't discipline yourself to get to your goal. Your just treading water..
As for my comments:
Discipline, is what you might lack. Whether you enjoy rendering or not. If you get yourself to comment to finishing a rendering. You will be VERY satisfied. Possibly enough to do another.
Discipline is what i'm trying to teach myself. My sketches are fair; they are not good enough. And I am forcing myself to sketch for 1 to 2 hours of 5 minute figure drawing.
Thats my two cents, I'm not trying to be harsh. Think of it as a challenge... *smile*

I have to agree with everybody else... WOW!
I especially like the dragon and the dragon/fish thing (with a backwards head? cool!)
Your style of hatch shading reminds me of the guy who illustrated for Frank L Baum's Oz books, and that brings back good young'n memories. Thanks
Do you have a series or comic strip or other cool stuff to show off?
Oh and you're only allowed to feel bad about your art when you post stuff and don't get many replies. I just got over feeling bad about my skillz so I know the skinny on the whole depression complex
Oh, and one more thing, thanks for drawing a non-traditional dragon.. you know what the traditional ones are like... the ones they make into pewter and soapstone figures and sell at overpriced mall gift shops - all evil and clutching pearls and treasure. Your dragon has a story written even in his forehead!
Is it a draconic humanoid? |
