I've been offered an intuos 9x12 serial tablet for $300. But I'm vary that it may have performance problems due to the serial interface.
Can you guys please give me some feed back or information, preferably personal experiences.
Thanks! |

Geelimp-glad that I'm not crazy, thinking drawing curves in PS is like drawing with polygons.

Okay this is what happen to me I got a wacom USB tablet and had to buy a USB card to go with it. I installed the card and couldn't get the tablet to work, 1t was a cheap 19.99 one, so I took it back and got a name brand one, (at the advice of the tect support I called) That didn't work, so I'm like what the hell is going on. Wacom said you must have Win98, and I did, but what I didn't have was 982nd edition. So I bummed a 98upgrade from a friend, and BaddaBboom BaddaBing the tablet works. Now here's bad part Win98SE has screwed my PC up so bad I can't shut down from the start button, My Cesco high speed connect modem lets me online when it feels like it, and when it does my browser will not connect to any sites. OOOOHHH but I'm having a wonderful fucking time drawing and painting on my tablet! WOOPIE!!

I'm fairly sure that it will work in NT4SP6, so why don't you use that?

Just to reiterate something I've said before, the Wacom USB Graphire - Stylus and Mouse set works GREAT with Windows 2000. Wacom is offering great support for the pad.

I had to change my wacom Usb with a serial one because the geforce ddr on my abit be6-2 motherboard take too much voltage and usb doesn't work well (the cursor of the wacom was moving some pixel around itself, without moving the pen)
Well just my experience, but remember that serial is enough for the tablet link and is supported by all OSes around the world...
p.s. i have an epson 1200 scanner on the usb port but works great!

i've tried my own penpartner 4x5" with one of my work pc's (p3 700, 512 ram, running windows 98 se, yadda dadda), via serial (duh) and there's no blocky cornery shit nowhere to be seen, same with a serial intuous a4 oversize (on a p3 700 / 1024 ram, running nt 4 workstation with sp6a), so fuck usb is all i can say.
helps to set your baud rate higher as well... .. . .. ...
lil interesting point i heard a while bback : wacoms work better when you stick them to com 2 and up the baud rate. dunno how true this is, but i've heard it from different sources a good few times.

Yes the motherboard chipset that drive the COMs "talk" quikly with the COM2, it's a good idea to use com2 for the modem too
