Hey peeps.. I just had a thought (a rare occurance)...

Craig announced that he will be one of the guest speakers at the Artcenter College of Design in Pasadena. I would *LOVE* to be able to attend to soak up some of Spooge's wisdom (as I'm sure the majority of the forum would), but unfortunately I'm about half way across the globe like 99.5% of the rest of the forum is.
I don't know who of the forum will actually be attending, but I thought it just might be a possibility asking (or begging?) those who will attend to bring along a Camcorder and record Spooge's performance. It could then be arranged to be digitized and encoded and thrown on the net for all to oogle over..
I've seen this happen on a number of conventions around the CG-Char community. It works nicely.
I know it's asking a lot, but I'm sure a lot of people would be gratefull if it's possible to arrange.

Anyone..?? Please... No?? Pretty please with sugar on top??!?

Danny

It might be unusual for Danny but he's actually got a great idea! Well done champ! )

Seriously though, if something like this is possible it would be *great*.

Definately!

Could someone perhaps compress it to RealAudio or ReadVideo and put it on a site so we could all access it?

Good suggestion Danny.

Maybe as a last resort we could get Spooge to carry around like a mini-tape recorder or something so we can at-least have audio like someone said.
Just a suggestion :\

[edit] I'm not sure how good it would pick up the other people talking though.

So far myself, Phil(wacomnokey), Francis, and a number of other image makers from down here will be attending. I always record speeches, but they never turn out well. Tapes are too short, dont pick up enough sound, etc. I don't want to be the one that does this though, as I want to listen to the speech and not worry about the little recorder in my hand, flipping tapes every 30 minutes. Plus, I think if Spooge wanted this he'd get Craig to do the recording, right ex? j/k, feeling satyrical, I just spent a thousand dollars on books this weekend, and I'm feeling a little broke right now...humor me

Spooge-do you have to get tickets in advance? Does it sell out? We need to order tickets from somewhere if that is the case. Know where? Thanks...

I can't write much, the sweat is dripping into my keyboard. I was told to expect about 100 people, I don't have any clue about capacity or advanced tickets.

I will call Nancy on Monday and post anything relevant here. Here is the info in case I am hit by a bus *crosses fingers*. But if that happens, I guess the point is moot

the talk is at

> Sat. July 29th
> 6-8pm
>
> ArtCenter College of Design
> La Times Media Theater
> 1700 Lida St, Pasadena

Here is my contact:

a. background
b. Techniques
c. Influences
d. Hopes and goals
e. Pass experiences*
f. Advice

*2. keep from talking negatively about a company or indivdual, I know
sometimes a bad experience is difficult to forget and tempting to share.

3. you'll have 30-40 minutes and 15 min. for q/a if you think you want a
longer
frame of time let me know I can try an arrange it. But don't worry if
you go
over it's only to our gain to learn more about you!

I've been thinking about driving down (I'm in the San Jose area) to catch the speech. I had been planning to check out ArtCenter anyway so I figured I could kill 2 birds with one stone

So any info about seating and advance tickets would be much appreciated. Hope to see a few people from the forum there!

Sorry if this is a repeat, but it seems like my last reply didn't take. Anyway I'm thinking of driving down for the speech. Since I'm also considering going to ArtCenter it would be a chance to check out the college as well.

Since I live in the San Jose area, it would be great to know if advance tickets are needed or if there is a possibility of selling out.

Hope to see some other people from the forum there, it would be cool to be able to actually meet some of you!

You West Coast bastards. I'd love to attend, but I'm over here in the entertainment desert of the world.

If I don't get a tape or transcript, I think I'll have to shoot somebody.

For those who've watched the movie Fight Club, I think The Spooge/Mullins issue is rather similar. Spooge Demon is probably Mullins' split personality. Beating himself up in front of the monitor when not pleased with his pixels..
Either that or it's his evil twin brother..

Danny

Craig Mullins is some guy I've never met or seen. Spooge is a guy who hangs out here in the forum and gives free advice. Both are great, but I will likely only have the chance to speak to Spooge.

Spooge-Actually Craig, could you tell Spooge that he doesn't need to pay me till the books arrive. I am not charged till they ship. Since the books are October release, we have a bit of time to spare. Also, because they were ordered at the con there is no shipping and handling, and because I spent so much cash there, there is also no tax. I will tally your bill and email it to you.
Bud Plant is my Achilles Heel. All in the name of art...do you have the John Harris book called Mass.? It is the compilation of all his sci-fi work, he is a mad man. He paints in shellacs, how?
