looking good....
there's still just SOMETHING not right with that knight, but I can't put my finger on it, so I'll shut up... Actually, I think you want him to drop his stance just a bit more, so he looks a bit more primed, like a cat ready to pounce.
Spooge, great pic, but it kinda looks more like a samurai than a ye olde knight. As for the foot being flat, even though you reckon it's wrong, a lot of japanese and chinese sword arts advocate feet flat on the ground. Look at this guy's right foot (on the left of the pic)
oh, and bg, I'm not suggesting the knight drops his stance THAT much

Sorry JayBee, but I disagree heavily.
Knights and Paladins are noted by their clunky armour which protects them and yet gives them a slightly unbalanced look.
If anything, the knight should(and does BTW) look protected but slightly unbalanced in his heavy armour.
Spooge's version looks okay as a martial-arts style pose because he has substituted the metal for leather/cloth. |

I meant drawing errors or advices, how shadows act and something like that
There is the eyehole, but you can't see it because helmet is rotated. Haven't you guys watched Monty Python???

If I want to do "cool" helm I do it this way, but my composition doesn't allow this kind of helm or knight.

In that position the guy's heel would be up. Even though in Kung Fu they teach you to generally keep your heel down, there's a point when you don't bother, because it throws you off balance.
Spooge - your pose looks closer to as if the warrior has just been shoved backwards by the dragon, and is just stopping himself. This wouldn't happen in real physics(you'd just fall down ), but since the pose is a tad comic bookish, it's fine. I won't go into your rendering, since it's impecable as always. BTW, why you guys use background textures? I thought you were supposed to paint the texture.
BG: I'd take that basketball off his right shoulder, it looks kind of cumbersome. You might also want to question where the dragon's back legs start-he sort of looks like he's gonna fall over. ^_^

hmm anthonys kinda right about spooge's position, but you gotta admit, it still looks mighty fine. it looks kinda like hes sliding or something, it would probably look more appropriate if he was drawn on a mountainside, he could be sliding down it.. |

Frost,
http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003204.html
Hope that clears it up.
Bg, only thing I could suggest is looking at some images of dust that is backlit. If the sun is that strong, it will burn through it in a nice way, also throwing some subtle shadows on your subjects.
This is a good example of the difference tween photography and painting and your eye.
Lets say this image is real and you are standing there
Photograph- either set your exposure for the background, in which case the subject goes black, or expose the subjects well and the bg blows out. The exposure latitude of film is a pain. We see so much photography that it leads us to believe that is the way we see.
Eyeballs- Your eye can expose the whole scene correctly. You would see into the shadows and bright areas and it would be filled with color and light. No black
Painting. This is one reason among many why it is important to paint from life at least sometime. Paint it the way your eye might see it, not the way a photo would butcher it. If your after a particular graphic effect, that's fine, but learn to assign values to the forms that are there, then you will have control, not just "I meant to do that."
So I guess what I am saying is careful with the heavy black silhouette. you can throw in a lot more color and form than you think, if you are careful and explore it a bit more. I will do a sketch if you do really not understand my rambling.

Actually I liked it better when the dragon's back legs were his front legs (if you get my drift). Made 'im look freakin' huge |

Kindly illustrate, my dear Spooge-meister. And yes, I'm just greedy.

I think it looks like the guy is crouching down. It's like he's getting ready for a swing. All coiled up, ready to let loose.
Btw Anthony are you speculating on the sword fighting and martial arts, or do you have some experiance. Just curious |

Teach hand to hand and grappling, just practise western swordsmanship(I know lots of "forms," or "katas," that use swords, but they don't count).
