Well..I did some compositing and animation work for Dean Cundey on the super snazzy movie "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves" and then moved to Nichimen Graphics as the Manager of Support, a well as Demo Artist, Quality Assurance Tester and part of the Production team. I was there nearly 4 years and now do 3d models for commericals, movies and the web (and do Flash..blah) at Viewpoint Visualization.

pencil comic artist just for fun, random 3d projects using rhino, webdesign and gfx design, as well as colors for the pics via photoshop. All of the above is non-profit except for the webdesign and gfxdesign; i made a total of $225 so far through that and that's just as an amateur.

I am a sophomore in highschool, 14 years old, New Jersey USA, I like computers, comics, electronica, making some random techno. I work with 450 p3, 19 in Monitor, and a bad scanner. I use the following programs, photoshop, Rhino 3d, Frontpage, Illustrator.
I crave the following things. . .

1. my own computer (a really good one)
2. gfx tablet
3. digital camera
4. color printer

. . .and thats only computer related

I went a little overboard here but I needed to vent.

I'm new to this board, but have been lurking for a few weeks. I guess now is as good a time as any to chime in.

I'm a mid 20's male living in Dallas, Tx. Currenly I'm a computer tech with plans to move into the local gaming industry.

I specialize in modeling low-count weapons and characters for realtime engines such as Quake3. I've done some amateur work in the past, but never textured my own models.

I'm just learning to draw in general, and at the same time trying to learn to paint textures and skins with Photoshop.

Nice to meet you all!

Hi. 22 years old, lead artist for a little startup game company called Guild Software. Most of my art education has been hands-on, trying to figure out how to be a lead artist at a video game company.

I do primarily modeling and texturing, for which the standard combination of Max/Photoshop works quite nicely. I'm trying to get into more 2d art (not textures) to broaden my horizons and become more familiar with Photoshop's tools. (There's only so much you can learn by drawing space ship textures!)

So yeah. That sums up my life pretty nicely.

Bah, I must be one of those few non-artists here. I can't draw, although I'm trying and with a little bit of luck and a lot of patience maybe I'll be able to do some decent stuff. I can't do anything very well, really. I can't do web design as well as some people, I can't program CGI scripts in PHP/MySQL as well as some coders, I can't play the piano as well as most people who actually learnt, I can't make music with tracker software anywhere near as good as what some people can. I can't do physics as well as some of my friends in my year (I'm at univ). I can't write as well as some great authors.

But at least I can dabble in all those areas, and I'm trying to improve!

Hey, My name is Tak, I'm 17 and I'm Japanese. I suck at drawing anime, yet I still try anyways. I don't consider myself an artist, but a doodle master. I do not take art anymore at school since I have a tight schedule to fit in computer and science related subjects for my hopeful future. I live beside 2 universities, one is where Bill Gates hires the most students from any other university in the world, and the other is an excellent business university. And they're both a 5 minute walk from eachother. Lucky me.... I want a graphire, and hope to get into a neat-o art job sometime if I ever get the chance. And as you can see from my post, I'm also a wishful kinda guy. Oh yeah, and one last thing, I'm obsessed with monkeys and mexico for some reason.... Cheers!

#2, working towards #3.

I'm 19, going to junior college and taking art courses. I've been drawing for a long time, but I'm lazy about it so I'm not that great yet. I'm thinking about, after junior college, going to an art school and getting some real art training.

That's unlikely to happen now though, at least not right after junior college. I currently work as a freelance level designer. I'm doing one of the levels for the official Unreal Tournament addon. I had a chance to do more than one, but I'm doing other things as well. That takes up most of my time now and I enjoy it. I may just go get a job doing that someplace instead of going on to more schooling... and I don't think it'd be hard to get a job (I've been getting offers since I was 15).

Lucky for me, I've got a big computer (which I got from one of my level deals), and a large tablet (a gift from my parents)... though I still prefer using the mouse for some things... after 10 years of doing mouse art, one gets used to using it. =)

I'm 17, I'll be a junior, kind of. I'll be officially a junior in highschool but I will be spending the whole day at college doing "paper" art this year and Graphic Design my senior year(the professor has worked on making the dinosaurs in Jurrasic Park: Lost World).*bwhahaha and I get math credits, english credits, etc.*

I draw anime style and dont expect to change that style for any reason. I like it because of how stylish it is, the accuracy of detail and other things. I just like the way it looks and its fun to draw.

I'm old too (33). I've taken the long scenic route into professional art - I started out in science - got a degree in physical chemistry (quantum mechanics) with the intent of going to med school. Discovered I hated all that and went to grad school in architecture. Graduated, worked a few years in the field and had some interesting work, but realized I wanted to do something else, so I reworked my architecture portfolio into a game/movie art portfolio. I learned some 2D and 3D apps, researched and surfed the web a lot, made contacts, and now do concept work for a game company. During that whole time, I was always into comics, movies, games, art in general, and did freelance work on the side. Just never seriously thought about making a career of it until fairly late in the game. No pun intended.

hey Chumps..
Yeah..we create and then sell the wireframes of 3d models (both polys and nurbs) to movie companies who take credit for our work
Sometimes we do the texturing and even rarer do we do the animation. And of course, we do online artwork.

I am getting old... (29) in a month. I have always wanted to be an artist, and have worked consistently in print for the last 10 years as an illustrator/ designer, doing everything from corporate identities (logos, brochures, annual reports, etc) to web designs and graphic content. I have worked as an art director for a large trade show company, and right now I work for a design agency that specializes in packaging, with emphasis on the kids market. here is some of that companies work,.. you might have seen it. www.smithdesign

I have always had a preference towards comics, film, games, etc., mediums, and due to the fact that I can't stand the graphic design field anymore I have come to the conclusion that this is the direction I want my career to go, (although I knew that all along, but I have to pay the bills) so when time allows I have been working on changing my portfolio to achieve a position as a conceptual/production illustrator for a gaming or animation company.

I'm located in the east (New Joisey)and out here most people I'm in contact with don't have much experience with the aforementioned industries, so it's hard to get a feel for it. This forum has been a major influence to me, giving me an idea as to what is out there. Artists like the Presto guys (great stuff) Francis, Fred, Wacomonkey. The Mozeman's, and the man Spooge, have given me some "kick in the ass" inspiration to truck on, especially when the damn going gets tough.

So keep up the excellent work everyone, the inspiration is greatly appreciated, cause if I'm asked one more time by an out of stater, if I know Bon Jovi, or Bruce Springsteen, I'm gonna blow.

You guys already in Cali, don't know how good you got it!!!!

later, the rambling has ended
