ok i'm trying (emphasis on trying) to draw a girl i've kinda got a thing for realistically but i'm hitting some serious dead ends.
here's two pics...
first (sketch with no hair): http://members.xoom.com/gonad2012/emilynohair.jpg
second (bad...tried to do hair...to no avail): http://members.xoom.com/gonad2012/emilytryhair.jpg
ok my problems are...i raelly don't know how to get the hair looking right. i can't seem to figure out the highlights and how to make little strands of hair look good...so it looks like someone took a huge striped crap on her head.
and the other thing...how to draw her mouth.
mouths have always been a problem for me...can anyone help me out on how to get the mechanics of the mouth down??
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Hi. Looks pretty good so far.
Are you drawing that from scratch, or do you have a source pic? (Or do you have a really hawt girlfriend? :) You may want to play with copying photos a couple times if you haven't already. Though you won't become a grand master by copying photos, you can learn a lot about facial composition and color usage.
"If you can find me something more beautiful than a woman, I'll paint it. Until then, leave me alone." (Bastardization of a Joseph Michael Linsner quote.) |

a picture might help?, i assume from the hair its going to be in colour.
for portraits, its usually a good idea to lay down a sketch which si what you have, just need some sweet lips for you to kiss.
then lay down base colours of the picture, then refine refine refine, what kind of style are you going for?
and i think thats abosulutely sweet to draw a picture of her, is it for her? thats soooo cute... no one ever drew me to try and get me to go out with them, hehehe that so woulda worked.... anyways...
