Interesting. Different. I think it needs a little more modelling/dark values so that the brighter colours 'pop' a bit more.

Head looks great. Very 3D. The rest looks a bit flat. Looks really cool overall though.

Good to see his face isn't torn off and gushing blood everywhere.

hi n8

nice shading around the nose and forehead, but in other places the values could be more dramatic to avoid the flatness that you're getting - darker shadows.

Compsitionally it's a bit akward. You've got an inverted 'L' going on, and it's falling down toward the left. Either work on some abstract geometry in the background, or maybe move your signature to the lower left in order to visually balance and "prop up" the figure.

ciao

Do you do this 'for' a particular something n8? Just curious, its different subject matter from what we usually see on the board.

I like the image in general - you might want to brighten the color s up a bit though. The ones we always used were much more vibrant. Throw in some fire crackers and you're in gravy.

No, I don't think you can n8. Not many printers can handle RGB. You'd still have to do a CMYK conversion at some point.

You could try using a really bright white paper and finish the print with a light layer of spray varnish. That might help keep it bright.

Shame isn't it. Everything on screen looks great, and then you print it and think "oh. bleh."

I saw some of Beatrix Potter's original watercolours once, Peter Rabbit and all that. And they were amazing. Her paintings are luminous, with all these lovely subtle colour shifts. But, you look at prints of them in books and all they seem like are cute cartoons. The sparkle is gone.

as far as screen to paper translation, I've never had a problem using an Epson printer on Epson paper. The colors always come out like I want. For more comic or game looking pieces I use glossy paper, and for fine art I tend to use matte finish photo-quality paper. Then I use an acrylic spray to help preserve the colors longer. I've got some prints about three years old that still look brand new. For ultimate protection, coldmount and frame those puppies behind UV glass (see your local framer for details)

Most Eckard drugstores now have photo printers which do a wonderful job. $7/print, but very very nice.

Hey n8, what school are you from?
Work is interesting, but a certain element is missing, and I sure as hell can't find it!

Cool though, cool

Cheers!
