a thousand years have passed. Nuclear clouds caused by an enormous explosion still sweep around earth's dead core. All life seems to have perished, just a thick layer of ash covers the rocky surface of land. Oceans, as well, were cleared from animals and plants as well as bacteria as all water boiled and vaporized to the skies just to rain down and run black through still landscapes...

You'd think mankind were destroyed as well, wouldn't you? Well, you'll be mighty surprised to hear this: not all humans died! Instead, some hideous mutations took place, and now all hope lies in the ground rock of Italy. As the nuclear explosions took away civilization, only the best wine cellars made it, along with the few people hiding there.

Now generations after generations of inbreeding have brought up an interesting detail: as of now all Italians have severely deformed hands. It's all good though, they have adapted to the surrounding circumstances, and ended up looking like this:

The biomechanical hand!

..

Ok, now that you checked it out, I want to apologize. But this really is as biomechanic as I can get. Sorry 'bout it :]. Actually, try and forget all I said before, and take a look at my portfolio, which contains new stuff, oldest being made two and a half weeks ago... http://www.warthog.pp.fi .

Cya

Couldn't get anything mechanical done, sorry. Instead, there's another dinosaur! Wooo!

did you scan it? if not, how did you do the shading? I got an Intous 6x8 (finally!) and i cant get any shading done properly, when I draw i can only get about... 3-4 shades, 5 max... and its supposed to have 1000 something pressures

HULP
I used a technique which u like make many lines of colours and then you smudge them together... but doesnt really seam to work for me (makes a really wierd effect that i dont like)

OH now, you do a better biomech hand than that. Here are some ideas to get you going. I did these for prelim ideas for an itanglio plate. they are of my left hand done with pen. Just give the impression of functionality mixed with tissue and hardware.

good luck.

Those are some great sketches you got there
Gecko. I think the hand is my favourite.
Really good work! Your ones are great too Samdragon.

Hey! Didn't you like my corkscrew-middle finger, Samdragon?

It really wasn't really a serious shot at doing biomecha-stuff, actually more the result of a boring work day.

I like your second hand a lot, especially the tubes and wires close to the elbow.

But now that you mentioned it, I could try do some metallic stuff, even if I like natural subjects more... btw does that show?

Anyhow, I know I'm gonna go sketch something now. Have a nice day.
