Girls who put up with that kind of treatment are either lost and trying to find themselves (much like us) or they are just stupid bitches without a clue.

The trick is to find a girl who is just plain nice. They do exist.

uhm.. trust me.

I feel bad for you guys, the one this good about being in high school still is the cute girls, and lots of them. I get smiles like that all the time. But it doesn't make up for the hours of time wasted in class doing nothing.

i found a REALLY good way to get cute girls to look at you and smile at you.. alot.

Buy a shiny sports car. This cute girl on my block who used to NEVER look in my direction before now turns her head and gives a look when she sees me. Just any girl really, im 20 so the girls my age are always turning their heads now.. never happened before. I hardly ever get out cept maybe once a month to a party or sumfin, it's worth it though heh

My first time at Random Musings. Not that I've been at the forum for that long, but... anyway...

I like nice guys. I like nice guys who won't let people walk all over them. There's a difference, I think, between being a nice guy, and being someone that lets other people use them.

I don't like boys who would bend themselves over backwards to please me. I think that being chivalrous and being just plain wimpy are two different things. I can't stand guys who go "I'll do anything you want" that's just sad

What am I trying to say? Maybe that girls aren't aliens. We just want people that are on the same level as we are. Not overly nice in the "I will do anything for you I will throw myself in front of the train for you I want to talk to you but I don't dare to" way but rather "I know who I am" kind of way. Am I making any sense?

It's nice if you like it when we smile... just smile back

So, yeah, girls like nice guys.

See, it should be obvious by now that smiling back is the worst thing i can do.

Will a misanthropic dead-stare work too? perhaps its "mysterious" or something..

I just don't understand girls. Some nice and pretty girls are with stupid boys, why?
I try to smile to girls and be nice, but I don't get anything... I guess I will get better. Well, I HOPE so. If not, this could be quite sad

Ach. That's my problem. I'm too nice. If my gf were to ask me to do something, I would go out of my way to get it done regardless of expense to me, and not even make a big deal out of it...

Spitfire, are you trying to frighten me?
I think that we will know how to be a nice boyfriend when it won't be useful, like at 80's...
Count Zero, I think I have the same problem... do you feel that if you go against your girlfriend she could go away?

It's a cloudy and sad day... I guess it's affecting me.

Ragnarok: no, not as such, but I never want to contradict her, for unspecified reasons. There might be that fear at the back of it all...
She actually told me once that whenever anyone raises a conflicting opinion to my own I "back down and withdraw" and act like I'm the "only one in the world who feels like this".
Fuck. Guess I should start asserting myself more.

i'll have to agree with Enayla about the overly-courteous deal. it bugs me sometimes. i don't mind basic chivalry once in a while, but i can usually hold the door open for myself, thanks nah, not a big deal.

i don't see how there could be anything wrong with a guy smiling back. why not, too? it's just being friendly. though it is kind of interesting when they don't exactly smile back, but do the mysterious thing.

i personally like beater cars. there's sometimes more appeal in an 87 ford to me than in one of them new flashy things. it's the man that makes the car.

also those weepy guys bug me. there's one i met this year that says yes to just about anything. he's like a little puppy dog or something, following my every command. this was in my graphic arts class, too. i was working one day and saw him come over and stand behind me, watching me work. i wasn't sure it was him, so i quickly glanced back, and he says something like "oh, sorry.. i was just looking, don't mind me, really. sorry.." in a way like i was God and he was some pathetic soul trembling under my wrath. i consider myself a fairly easy-going person, so it was a lil odd.

so, guys. is there anything you would say to a girl about all this, maybe things you wish she wouldn't do? advice perhaps from one side to another?

Probably he is shy and doesn't want to upset you. Guys that aren't self confident have many of these problems, I've seen a lot of those being a bit pathetic because they were simply unsure. I usually go very slow on those things, because if that girl you like is not what you think she is, why worry? <- like the Dire Straits song.

Theres nothing wrong with smiling back, as long as you are capable of smiling correctly. When i smile at someone i seem to look like a socially challenged swamp alligator in a bad mood. I guess ill stick to the mysterious thing. Goes alot better with my black, 5-cm deep eyesockets, too.
