This is my first real attempt at a full pic, I drew half with a mouse and half with a tablet (it was on loan ), as it's my first pic I'd like any opinions, constructive critiscism, etc.
You can find it at http://www.gct30.dial.pipex.com/artwork/post.html
(sorry, I couldn't get it to work here)
Thanks
James

The background and torso are good...so is the gun...the head is kinda warped though, and the legs look too small. |

Hmm.. lemme see.
The gun is rendered I guess no?
The background is drawn or a sky-photo background?
.) I like the city in the background, it looks cool, the earth before however could need some details and texturing.
.) the smoke seems a bit too linear, try to make it look a bit more natural.
.) You could add a bit dirt to his cloak and to his shirt.
.) The poor guy will have eye problems sure because he is lacking eyebrows all the sweat will run into his eyes
.) You could add some shadows to the face and color his lips a bit darker...
Not bad however for a first shot

That's one ugly mug on that pic I tell you!
The city looks pretty sweet! The guys face is a little too mushed and needs a little work! His upper body seems a bit too big for his lower, actually I think it's his head! The coat is pretty nicely done! I'm thinking the sky is from Bryce to, and the gun looks rendered and stands out too much! The desaturated colours of this pic doesn't go well with the lighting on his face! Cool concept though!

Thanks a lot everyone,
Yeah, the light blue sky came from bryce with the grey clouds and black backdrop done seperately myself. The city itself was a basic 3d block skyline rendered in monochrome. I then pasted it a couple of times to save time and added the windows etc.
The gun itself was done similarly, with a monochrome render with basic shapes then the mud\colour\detailing was done with a waccom as normal. While I prefer doing my own work as opposed to rendering whole pics, I don't mind working on a really basic design, just to get an idea of shapes and stuff.
Your definately right about the face, I never liked it myself As to the ground, it's meant to be like mist or whatever....
Anyway, thanks again for the opinions, as soon as I get the money fro a tablet I'll have another go
