Hi there.
I'm pretty new to Photoshop (less than a month) but here's one of my first pieces of work.
This took me about 4 days. Is this quite long? Artists rarely reveal how long it takes to do their work.

Hi,
Nice pic up there!
I normaly cannot force mayself to work so long on a picture.. exceptions are 3d projects but they take longer naturally for me.

That's a really good pic for only using photoshop for a month. You obviously have a background in painting (or illustrating of some kind). I think 4 days is just fine. Take as much time needed until you are happy with it. Art isn't a race. It all depends on the size and complexity of whatever I'm working on to determine how much time I spend on something.

Hmm, it ranges from 2 minutes to 6 months. I'm including 3d in that. Since I don't do 2d really for money, I don't spend as much time on that-it's just for fun after all, and I'm easy to please. For instance, this doodle took 5 minutes this evening:
Oh heck, the jpg compression killed the red eyes in the pooch and feline.

Anthony - Red eye's or no red eyes that sketch kicks ass.
This is what bothers me. Everybody on this forum are expert sketchers. However, I find it hard to start pictures this way, hence most of my pictures have a lack of perspective and context.

Nice pic Ceenda, and welcome. =)
Funny you should mention that people rarely mention the amount of time they spend on a picture, since someone complained about just the opposite some time ago. =)
I have to agree with Eclipse to a certain point. Art is not a race... however, when you get into the professional field and have to put out quality in a given amount of time, you can bet it's a good excercise to learn how to do your work quickly and efficiently.
very nice pic (although that pure blue has nothing to do with the rest of the pic, the rest is great!=)
cheers

Very nice picture, I'd love to see more of your works.
I'll never finish my works properly so for me it does not take longer than a few hours.
Frost - What do you mean the pure blue does not work, there could be a huge blue spotlight just outside of the pic I must say that I like the blue color as a curiosity, it gives some character to the pic, though it isn't very realistic. |
