I was wondering what everyones personal favorite art piece is? If you have a copy of it could you post it?
Or even your favorite piece you've done.
Also who is your favorite artist? Post a piece that you like the most of that artist as well. Maybe a link to a site with samples of the artist's work.

I can't wait to see the diversity in this form.
I felt that it might be a good idea to add a list of the artists mentioned.

anyway. one of my favorite artists it Van Gogh. i dont know of any places that have his art work off by hand, but i like just about every one of his paintings

this piece by Mr. Mullins takes my breath away. My favorite colors, black and blue.

Frost and Klaivu. They're definitely my favorites. I think their post-apocalyptic pics are their best. Frost's American Dream pic is awesome. Klaivu's pic of the dude with the gun is so crisp and detailed... It rocks.

I'll say Norman Rockwell reguarding traditional artists.

In the digital field, in my opinion Dhabih Eng is the best digital colourist in this world.

The best illustrator ever is Todd McFarlane -Greg Capullo and Angel Medina are quite the same.

favorite artists? let's see, Durer, Escher, and Rockwell.

digital? hrrmm. I would have to say either joachim or micke.. I've always liked all of their work.

i got a chance to see a special exhibit of a masters' sketch collection from austria at the AGO in toronto. it was 'the worlds best collection of the worlds best sketches.' the collection is so valuable that the austrian government tried to stop it from being taken out of the country. (this was the first time anyone had done so)

they had examples from rembrandt, da vinci, michalangelo, and many others spanning from the renaissance right up to the 20th century. amazing stuff!

after seeing that, i'd say my favorites are albrecht durer's sketches, particularly the old man. (i'm not sure the exact title)

what struck me the most was the way they combined pen, chalk, pastels and pencil all in one sketch. that's something i'd like to experiment with soon. it gives a great combination of hard and soft lines.

it's also amazing to see lines on paper that were set down 500 years ago by a world-reknowned master! i try to think about what must have been going through his head at the time, and what daily life must have been like. (especially for an artist)

No offense spitfire, but Carson is a hack...I know the guy. He found some images of Bauhaus graphic design, copied it,and in my opinion made it worse.
Get this, to get known in the design community, he sent letters to all the design magazines disguised as his girlfriend, and friend of the family, claiming that this Carson guy is the shit, and that he should be praised as one of the greatest designers of all time. Bah, hacks deserve to burn!!! A great big example of copying someone elses work and calling it your own...

favorite penciler - joe madueira, he combines anime with the traditional comic style, and has one of the most original ideas ive ever seen (battlechasers, for one...calibretto is just the coolest)

favorite inker - tim townsend, joe's old accomplice, heh

favorite painter - most likely craig mullins, he is the best photoshop painter ive seen...otherwise mostly any widely-known digital painter produces similar good work.

Design doesnt count as art, but it should be mentioned that David "God" Carson is th..ehm. Yeah. Exactly.. The god of contemporary design.

if i had to say i had a favorite artist it would probably be douglas tenapel. that guy pumps out such strong and vivid characters. i dont even know if i spelled his name right haha

and as far as the notyetacelebrity, i like kurisu's fresh approach to virtually everything. i wish he was a midget so i could hold him in my arms like a small child even though i couldn't since i am like 5'5" and burp him over my shoulder repeatedly.
