This is a more developed (and as far as I'm concerned "finished") version of a pic I posted a while back.
It was done mostly for technique, and to be quite frank I'm a bit sick of seeing it. So I'd like you all to rip it to shreds with any comment, critique, complaint you can think of. I am particuarly interested in nitty gritty technical details.

The smaller version

bigger version

Sorry about the wait

By the way has anyone out there made the transition from PS to Painter. Is there any little secret or way of looking at it to make it easier. I just spent a whole day and got nowheare fast. the interface just kills me every time.

oohh thats cool, that would make the coooolest business card. only thing id do is either highlight his arm closest to us or darken his body so its easies to differentiate the two.

Nice robot design, and I really like the gun. Also, the greeblies are well done too - are the orange cables glowing?

I'd say (as Cap'n Pyro sort of mentioned) increase the value range overall. You have some good light/shadow stuff going on with the individual pieces, but if you sort of squint at the picture and try to read the overall values, everything is in the same range except for the detailed joints; the greeblies don't seem to be responding to the same light source that the bigger shapes are. There is a lot of great detail in there, but don't be afraid to obscure a lot of it with shadow and let the viewer's imagination fill in the rest.

I know you're finished, but maybe for future ideas...

yea rinaldo really nice robot (resembles the dudes from the last starwars movie), i liked what francis did to it because my only gripe about the pic was there seemed like there was too much "confetti" in his arms and such, toning it down and adding more shadow did the trick

Hey people

Thanks for doing that Francis, I knew the lighting was off but I'd drawn a whole bunch of detail before the lighting was realy establifhed and I just couldn't bring myself to sacrafice all that for that sake of realism. But your quick retouch brings it out, the forms make more sense now.

And NO it's not starwars inspired alot of my robot ideas come from old 70's and 80's sci-fi comics. in particular Jose luis Garcia Lopez (I think I spelt that right).
It definitly shares some common design traits with the PM Robots though.

more comments please....
