This is the latest I have been working on.
I want to color this digitally, but would
really appreciate some feed-back before the
next step....whatever that is! Thanks,

I really like this picture... It has a great feel of speed and desperation to it...hehe
Some quick constructive-criticism, if you don't mind...
The Colt 1911 government issue in his right-hand is a little too large. Shave the barrel length down about 1.5" (comparatively) and make it a little thinner as well (overall) -- Sorry...Being a gun fanatic causes me to do this. And secondly, (this is really minor) -- If this is based in WWII, western europe, battling the germans; The boots their wearing are wrong. Those are modern jump boots. -- They would have been wearing canvas jungle-boots... 17" "pole climbers", for that area and era of combat. Hope that general info helps...
I think a sky...Possibly with some smoke and mixed clouds would help maybe...?

Good action like the other poster stated. Very nice. I would add some more detail in the pile of rubish on the right side of the picture. This will help draw your eyes from that bazoka/rocket launcher? up to the tank. Keeping the flow of the picture so your eyes keep moving in a circle.

Have fun doing colors in this. I would prolly do some dark hue of blue over the whole thing. Kinda like camera filters ya know? But thats just me. YOu could have endless ideas going color. Can't wait to see it!

This is a great composition. I remember seeing a very rough version of this on your site a while back. I like the way the shadow lines reinforce the action, and lead your eye to the tank.

I think you could add more detail to some of the foreground stuff, as has been stated, and maybe also have more of a variety - for example, add more rubbish or debris that does not include rocks between 6" and 12" in diameter (I'm exaggerating to make the point).

Also, more details in the wall behind the two characters would help in a couple of ways - adding more architectural details will help define the scale of the surroundings, as well as tell more of the story. For instance, you might have some shop windows that have been smashed open, or apartments that have been burned or looted, etc. Also, as with the shadows on the ground, the added details can add to the "action lines" in your drawing, although you should be careful not to go overboard that way.

The shadow of the bazooka makes it look as if the bazooka is sort of floating.

One last comment - might be nice to have a very light value skyline (buildings or something) in the back, behind the tank; although depending on how you color this, that may not be necessary.

Hope that doesn't sound like I'm ripping the picture apart - I actually think this is a great start, and I like it alot. Can't wait to see the final rendering!

Goood!

The only thing I had a little trouble with was the characters - whose head is which? Logically, I was able to match the heads with the bodies, but visually it was a bit confusing. Oh well, I expect the colouring will clear that up a bit.

Well, I couldn't stand it and in spite of the
dreaded day job robbing my weekend I kranked
back up our GI's in a tight spot.......you
guys motivate me!!!

Francis,

As usual, my "thank you's" fall short! Your
analysis and suggestions are right on and I
appreciate your time. Above you can see that I am constructing buildings to depict
the street turning a corner....or trying anyway! The info that your and "Fred" have
provided on the cube tutes have paid off here
*the hallelujah choir sings* !!!!!!
I struggled some with getting the
dark/right side(our left) of the Tiger tank
to pop out and it occurred to my little pee-brain that a building rotated to catch light on that side of it.....I could go on but I am sure that you see where I am going As you can tell I liked your idea of a skyline....but I won't overdo this! I will add detail and architecture in the foreground
and behind the GIs (currently in work)!!! You are right of course...this started as a rough sketch that I posted a
while back! Thanks again for everything, and I'll be back....take it easy and I hope you guys aren't workin' too hard! BTW,
love the updates to http://www.teamgt.com , slick!

Visigoth,

Dude! Right on, I will size down the M1911!
I was struggling with getting it right!
I am going to add some other small arms in the foreground (a Garand and a carbine) so
let me know what you think when I repost! Well,I am not going to argue with a goth about boots...I put some WWII era leggings
on these guys. Right away it gave it more of a WWII feel! Let me know what you think when I post again. Thank you!!!!

jHof,
Thanks for your suggestions. I am planning
some detail like guns and shells, trash, debris to keep the eye moving. I like your
color suggestion....that grainy WWII photo
feel would be a cool effect if I could snag it! Thanks again!

n8 and Aciddrone,

Thanks guys! I am removing the levitation
effect on the bazooka....I got a little wacky with my shadows. Check it out when I repost!

Affected,

I will work on the heads when I color...
thank you and let me know what you think
when I update!

NocTurN,
Funny, another person that saw this picture
mentioned something similiar....that they
felt the tank should be closer! I guess
I want these guys to have SOME sense of hope,
though....Thank you for the compliments and
suggestion!!! Let me know what you think
when I re-post!
