Above are some backgrounds that I did for "Rampage Through Time". They were done to match the cartoony style of the Rampage franchise, and had to fit into the extremely limited texture memory of the PSX. Most were eventually palettized down to 16 colors.
They were painted by mouse in Photo-Paint 8.

theyre pretty good but they seem way to bright and soft. try adding alot more shadow/black highlights to it to bring out the objects in the images. they could use alot more depth. try adding a little more mountain detail too
i can compensate tho, if you had to convert it to a psx-friendly palette |

Thanks for the reply.
These background are actually taken out of context . . . they needed to be /very/ subdued and muted so as not to compete with the action going on in front of them. If I was doing them for fine art purposes, I would have been much more ambitious with lighting and color, but I had to match a style that was already established.

i like those a lot. very functional, but nice-looking. of course, i'm not a gamer, so i have no idea about these in context with other games... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |
