I was wondering where I can find information or tutorials on making those game intros (trailers) at the beginning of a lot of games.

If you don't know what I mean I can better explain here.

Thanks for any information.

Umm...that's rather a broad subject. Here're the basic steps(I assume 3d graphics):
1)Create storyboard
2)Create 1st animation section camera angles using fill objects(cones, cubes, spheres)
3)Add lights and textures to scene
4)Add details, render sequence.
5)Repeat 2-4 for 2nd Animation Section.
6)And 3rd
7)Etc
8)Use a program like Premier to composite all of the sequences as you like, using the special effects you want to create drama, and add sounds.
That's about it.

Thanks, very informative.

I posted this in the other forum and someone mentioned 3dSMax. Which one is better for this type of production Premier or 3dSMax?

P.S. what is Premier's website?

Adobe premiere is no renderer but a post production application. you can add sound and cut the sequences with it that have already been rendered. (for instrance in Max, Lightwave, Softimage..)

If you will make a good asskicking Movie (intro) I prefer 3DSMAX it hass all the Stuff Animators need. I use Release 3 to create a trailer for a LAN-Party around here.
I have saved a single image, so u can see what it looks like.

Or for a more frugal approach you can get your feet wet by checking out some tutorials at machinima.com. In some ways it can be harder to get something done the way you want it done using this in-game engine approach and there are obvious limitations compared to a 3D program like 3DStudio and Adobe Premier. But all the basic elements are there.

If you're serious about getting into 3D, pick up a copy of Hash's Animation:Master. It's $299 and is a better character animation solution than MAX.

Go to http://www.hash.com to take a look at A:M.

You will not produce great work overnight though . . . it takes months for even an accomplished 2D artist to start thinking in 3D and becoming proficient.

I definately agree with Gimbal. Definately get your feet wet and get into Machinima. Not only is it cheaper, but you'll probably get hooked and never look back. @:-) If you own or can easy get your hands on a copy of Quake/Quake2/Half-Life/Unreal/etc (or even if you're privledged enough to get your hands on Lithtech Film producer, aka Me Me me!! @;-), head over to www.machinima.com and go thru some of the tutorials and join the boards.

Long live Machinima!!!
