Hey, I know there are quite a few posts about digital art books, but none quite answer my questions, which are as following...
Have you ever read a book on digital art? (this is for everyone mind you)
If so did this book help you, and how?
If anyone has read a good photoshop book that could possibly help with techniques, coloring, poses, figures, or just basic/advanced photoshop knowledge, or tips, please let me know.
Thanks so much!

Books are usually to show the technical side of things, not so much the artistic. Photoshop books will show you how to use the pen tool, but it won't show you how to color or especially pose a figure drawing. That other stuff is just learned by color theory, lighting studies, illustration books, genres in which there are many books (just search for these topics).
I suggest you get the illustration books and rely on photoshop as the channel to take the knowledge you gain and apply it digitally. Photoshop only requires you to learn tools, all that artistic stuff is obtained elsewhere.
But if it's really photoshop techniques you want, check out the Photoshop WOW! Series, which is good for beginners, or the Photoshop Studio FX series. These basically show you flashy tricks, nothing so much pertaining to digital painting at all.

books, especially about photoshop, are good for nothing except their amusement value... stay clear of them. you'll get more out even from this forum

I guess what i have trouble with is the drawing part. That is what i need to learn first i think. And then work on technique and all that techniqual stuff. Although im not too good at drawing - that will probley be my most major setback. No matter how hard i try.. I just cant put out onto paper or on the computer what i want. It always comes out different. And suggestions? ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/frown.gif) |

I HEAVILY disagree. I recommend you check out PS books in your local bookstore before making these statements. Try to find Adobe Press' Photoshop 5 Classroom in a Book. It's excellent. It will teach you numerous things which are obfuscated in PS manual.
