I am in the process of redoing my site....I am going to a more graphical interface. I have my background....but i am stumped on what to do with the rest of the stuff, such as body copy, headers, links, etc.
I have 3 differnt things taht i have come up with. the color of the stuff (yellow and red) IS NOT what color my text will be. i just wanted to draw something that stood out.
here they are....
1.
2.
3.
and if you want to draw something to show me...here is a jpg:
if you have any ideas...please use that image above and draw what you want! dont be shy...DO IT!

Nah~ =)
don't do an interface, it's bandwidth hog.
But then... an interface is pretty.
Heh.
Looks like your layout is user-friendly enough. And I suggest making MGM3 more 'apart' of the interface. LIke it's linked to something instead of just floating text. And move your email address somewhere else, to the bottom maybe.
I did a few interfaces before. http://www.geocities.com/ray-kool/ http://www.geocities.com/ray-kool/main.html
Check out these two. Hope they helped. |

Hi Moose,
I really like the bg colors! And I really like the yellow, too (it does stand out)! As far as which design to take, I think that depends on what *you* want. Each could work. What is the goal of your site? Commercial? Portfolio? Other? This may help you decide if you look at what other sites do that you like (and go in a similar direction to what you want). Know what I mean, Vern?
I'd draw on top of your pic, but I'm just too busy drawing in other posts! hehehhehh :P
I want to see your next version!

I think #1 and #3 have the strongest layout.
although #2 does have the advantage of being simple.
I'm glad to see people doing layouts and thumbnails instead of just hoping into a design.
Are you worried about load time? When you start to add rollevers (if you do) and animation( if you do) this interface may be a put off for visitors that don't want to wait.
Is this interface going to be static through out your site? Or will have you different interaces for different parts of your site?
BTW, These are great examples of why you don't put things in the very center of the page. See how #2 is just too plain, while the others make our eyes move around the image.
Nice greeking too.

hehe. thanks for you comments.
kurisu: hehe, yeah, i like that green and blue too. it originally was a nice light blue color....but i fiddled with the lighting effects filter and made those nice color combos /blends. this is for my portfolio / personal info site. the one i have now is http://www.geocities.com/mountainiii
samdragon: this design would most likely be static. if i could get my hands of a copy of Flash, i would do it in taht...as well as having an HTML version. As for rollovers...i dont think i would do this unless i made a flash version. Simply for the fact of the users' loadtime. I think i will use some CSS to handle that....even though Netscape users wont beable to see that (a:hover). I have been dummying my layouts like this since i became interested in journalism and doing magazine layouts for a school magazine.
now that i look at it, i think im gonna go with my third idea (the red one) for the fact that it does pull your eye more. so...i am going togo full throttle here and make it...if i dont get a copy of Flash, i may just end up doing a Shockwave movie in Director...
ill post the link when it is complete. Thanks again! |
