Thats pretty good dude.
All I can say is to 'soften' parts up and you'll be golden.
i.e. In the hair, which is wavy, where the hair 'dips' in, run along with your airbrush tool just lightly to give it a sort of clumpted depth and softness at the same time....go easy though.Same with the eyebrows. And the skin just needs to be softened a little more as well. Blend by the chin and stuff where you have a drastic change in tones. Hope this helps.

hey, that's a really nice pic. a few ideas for you though:
- perhaps you could add a bit more definition to the cheek bone below her eye? to me her cheeck sorta looks just like a blob there, sorta looks like she has a bit of SKOAL in there..heh (sorry if that insulted ya.)
- I also think it needs more shading along the left side of the neck. more of a shadow from her head, ya know?
don't know if I'm off on this, but that's my 2 cents. good job though, I love the eyes.

ok, ozenzo, here's a few pointers from me for what it's worth.
I did a little brushing on top of you image, but plz don't care about that I ended up changing the proportions, because that is not something I will comment. Cause, they are probably correct on yours according to the photo (?) But, I just got a bit carried away, mmkay
1. the colors. You shouldn't think of every part of the face (hair, face, eye, pupill, etc..) as individual parts with one color gradient each. because, in real life nothing has just one color. And also, to make it more interessting, this is also something that makes a realistic drawing more exciting as well..try to look at the photo and see where the skin is more red, green, blue, etc.....since f.ex nose and ear got less less skin than the chin which makes them more red.
2. it's nice to vary between hard and loose shading to get a clearer shape and to easier get the feeling that there's a skull inside the head. therefore it can also be nice to sketch up the whole head with the ear, etc..even though it's not visible on the photo, to think the face as a whole even though you just show parts of it.
3. Hair, Don't think of the hair as strands of hair..Think of the whole hair as a shape with mass, and try to shade it as that. If you then want to draw every strand of hair, do it on top as detailing, then it will look more realistic and you will get a clearer idea of what you're doing. ...-this goes for eye brows, lashes, etc..as well.
4. The eye is very often not white, since it's not self illuminated...so shade it more, if not it will not look like it belongs to the rest of the face.
5. the shadowing of the head is not wrong, I think, but I guess the photo has been taken with a flash lamp which make it rather plain and boring, so then it's really important to include the dark areas where the light usually don't get in. and also where you can find hard edges of shadows and light.
6. The shoulder looks too muddy. Shading and colors don't fit to the rest of the face, so it's hard to see that it's a part of the same.
Another good example is the face from kennet scott (ID) were he actually have exaggerated the shiny areas etc...a nice portrait of paul steed, even though it's a very plain lightsetting.
except for this ozenzo, you have a nice image. And, it's really good that you haven't traced the face lines but drew it yourself.
tip: Join Fred's face drawing class, I think he points out a lot of the things I've said, about thinking of the skull inside, etc...
As I said, I didn't want to comment, because I'm not classified to be anyones teacher, so if I've said anything wrong or stupid, let me know (anyone). I just want to help if I can.

Thanks.....in the photo the hair was pulled back, I like a womens hair down , so I had nothing other than imagination to go on with the hair.......thanks...it seemed after Fallen had given me pointers no one wanted to add or give thier own opinion, but thanks a bunch.....it has given me a great deal to think about
As for Fred....I've been following without fail, and practicing, sketching, in all my spare time....I'm still trying to get hold of those Lumis books |
