You do not strike me as the kind of guy that would be bothered by little comments on a forum. This seems like just another thing to make us decide who's right, who's wrong, who's the jerk, who isn't. Ignore any of those comments that have no substance, no actual point, and no reason for being said. It's the only way an artist survives, because it's all we get our whole lives. If you're going to take comments to heart, take in the good ones, or the constructive ones. Don't let this get to you, and certainly do NOT go out like this.

Geez. This sux. Well, I too shall miss your posts. In spite of what Synj says (whose stuff I also enjoy), there's nothing wrong with being good at what you're good at. If you've got a gift and you know how to use it, then use it and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. I too will keep an eye on your site.

PS. And another thing... some people would tell us (digital artists) that we should stop spending so much of our time and efforts trying to perfect our own styles and skills. Wouldn't it be better if once we got to a certain skill level, we should stop altogether doing digital art and move on to... macramae, or protein purification? No. Clearly, we do things that we like because we enjoy them and we derive some satisfaction from them. If I could draw my "friends" as well and as beautifully as Fallen has come to do, I'd be damned if I were going to draw houseplants and bananas all day. Word. GS.

fallen you know you can stay and things will be okay. daily doses of synj and all the other neat people here could still make some feeling put into your art. it really is cool and i love your detail but i beleive it could use more feeling and character put into those neat faces.

i keep thinking of indiana jones. chose wisely and you could find the cup of art. hehe

Unless you try something new you will never grow as an artist. I remember the first time my figure drawing instructor made me use pastels, my stuff sucked, but I learned so much from it, and my skills increased more than I had hoped. So try new things. You obviously got the hang of what your doing now.

Anyway, i agree with sc00p. This is an obvious attempt to gather sympathy and make people choose sides. Every "You're so cool dont leave we'll miss you" only adds to that.

Fallen : you dont need these kind of torpedo-tactics. You are a great artist blessed with an exceptional talent, especially your later pieces show that. Dont drop to a level this childish.

Synj : Yes, you are attacking Fallen. I dont see why this would be neccesary, since i dont know of any "personal" problems between you two. It's not like there can be only one, there shouldn't be any competition here, it's not like fallen poses a threat to you, or reverse, since you are in your way just as good as fallen is. If you dont like his work, that's a matter of personal opinion, formulate it in a constructive and mature way or dont share it.

This should be a place devoted to "art" in what form that may come, not a place to fight out your (personal) problems with people you probably haven't even met.

Summarized : You are both acting childish, dont make me buy an expensive ticket to come & spank you both.

Hmm, what sc00p said doesn't fit with my memory.
Fallen has proven to be one of the more highly strung and delicate forum members in the past.
Check the threads he starts: every pic he posts has without fail been met with dozens of replys, usually comprising one line of teenage fanboy adulation.

As far as this forum is concerned, he's rivaling spooge and Dhabih in the praise stakes. In fact people seem more inclined to criticise or suggest things to spooge and Dhabih than they do to Fallen.
Maybe he deserves it, I don't know. The point is he's hardly being hounded at every turn or ignored (there are a lot of folk posting here who I think are very original and skilled who barely get 5 comments on their stuff if they're lucky).
He's not an outwardly bad guy or an arrogant guy, but what the hell does he want? Universal adoration (on top of everything else)?

I just don't get how anyone could take anything that happens on a message board all that seriously. I began posting here out of boredom. Some of it was for critiques, but I get that from teachers every day. Personally I like the fact that we can all be ourselves here. It's like hanging out with a bunch of generally like-minded guys (and the occasional gal). For what it's worth, I like your stuff.

Fallen, I like your work. You've got a good style and lots of talent.

The bottom line is a lot of us are going for more of the photo-realism (or whatever you want to call it) style. Nothing wrong with that. We don't all have to draw abstract in order to be original.

Even trying different styles, like the B&W style Mickie uses, whats wrong with that? In art school they always teach you different methods in mediums you can use. I think they're neat and appreciate them. Maybe the idea of doing it isn't original, but as long as you bring your own style and contribution to the table, who cares?

Synj is immature. Bottomline. The first time he came he was acting like a complete ass. He's mellowed out, obviously, but he hasn't really changed. Just pretend he isn't around if he gets to you.

I enjoy his work and originality, even if it is scribbles as some have mentioned. But I don't like his attitude.

I don't know what all this is about but I think I have an idea. All I'm going to say on this subject (if I have the strength to avoid looking for replies afterward) is that I can't judge people by their artwork, only by the way they act. This forum is centered around digital art with a great group of helpful people to share their knowledge and learn from others...so this ordeal is rather disapointing.
