Elmore inspired?

So here's my Critique:

1) You should look at some anatomy books / pictures etc. to get the muscles right. It looks like you are not shure what they should look like. I recommend checking out the bodibuilder picture archive. (You can find it in my links section if you need the url)

2) The wings seem a bit plain to me.. you could add some details to them.. like small veins or wounds/scars etc.

3) and most important: you should add a light source and draw shadows and highlights in your picture. It looks so flat now.. add some depth to it.

keep it up man, its not bad

Wings are very much like arms. It looks like you are missing a few joints. Try looking somewhere for the bone structure of a bat and you will see what I mean. The wings of a dragon should be huge considering all of the weight it would have to support. Try looking at some of the larger birds (eagles, vultures, etc.) and you will see what I am talking about. Sorry I don't have any links but you should be able to find something relatively easy. Keep trying...dragons ussually take a while to figure out since they take anatomical features from several different animals. This is a good start though

Thanks for those tips. The web links are going to come in handy!

I see what you mean about the Elmore similarities...Its just that I was worried about drawing all those scales in : )

if anyone is interested in how I am trying to work this out...

I think I have a good outline of the new wings...

about the arms...is it both arms? I think the dragon's left (out right) looks ok..maybe the shoulder needs tweeking a bit..

There needs to be some darker darks in the picture. The pupils aren't even black... When the "darkest dark" is a relatively bright red, things tend too look flat.

Study a bats wings all differnt varieties the you should have a good Idea of how to apply the principles of flight to a dragon since thoes wings are lifting allot of weight.
