This is my first post.......Been lurking for an awful long time watching and learning....I work for a game company in the Seattle area....Here is a chance to post some stuff I recently did

These are 5 to 10 min poses. We just recently started life drawing at work so here is what came out of that. I hope to contribute more soon, time is very limited as others can probably say the same....anyways here goes.

Sorry about the technical difficulties. The permissions on my server are screwed up. As soon as that gets rectified (which I hope is shortly), the images will be back up.

This time I tried to give some (rather plastic ) flesh to the nice (well.. not so nice!) people around me who involuntarily posed for me

There is only so much graphic design that can be done in a quiet stuffy office before someone cracks =) These two heard a melow-sounding waltz playing on the radio, turned it up and started dancing

Glad the world hasn't lost its' sense of humour :P

Sorry I haven't kept this very lively. I plan on getting to critiques and some more lessons later in the week.

In the meantime, here are some drawings I did on Sunday. These are all pen or brush, no pencil and all from life - specifically, tourists at Disney World.

Side note: the two women feeding babies are not actually the same woman.

I appreciate the efforts to keep this post alive. Does anyone else plan on adding some sketches? I highly recommend you at least try this excercise, even if you don't wish to post yer drawings.

I should have time to add some responses to the posts later this week.

beautiful sketch work. Looks like what I saw out in front of a place called Costco...Have you ever considered, unless you intuitively do it already, look for the big sweep of the pose, or the long line? And one thing that I have found helpful comes in the bridgeman book about active and passive line work. Every muscle group has an opposing muscle group that works in opposition to the fore group. Thus, if the arm is bending, all the inside line muscles will have a great deal of undulation, or action, the active side. The outside line has long lines, simple, to counter act the active lines of the interior line. The exterior line is the passive line. What this does is create less bulky looking segments within the peripheral appendages ofthe figure, i.e. the arms and legs. It also creates a nice rythym inthe figure, and correctly articulates the muscle groups. Just a thought. I still really like the sketches...gotta get back to the laker game...

Fred;

You bring up a good point, something I'm going to address in my next lesson. In animation we deal with muscle tension through opposing straights and curves. In illustration you use line weight as well. Painting is prolly a whole other issue, perhaps you could address that in a future lesson.

Next lesson I will be covering straights and curves and parallel lines in figure drawing.

Ok, here's a few more quickies from me.
Mozeman, I would really love if you could give some comments to mine and everybodys sketches. It can be a much more fruitful exercise with some feedback, and then it might be easier for many to give it a second shot. And, since you started the thread, I would really appreciate if you could share some of your thoughts and comments according to how you think people are following "your class"

Hey Micke;

Sorry for not getting some feedback in a timely manner. Work is intruding like gangbusters and I've been really busy. I did manage to get the stuff in my "in" pile to look over (I printed out the pages so I could give it an adequate look over).

I was going to get to it this weekend, but my father is having emergency surgery, so I have to go out of town.

I will try to get to it very soon. Sit tight. Your stuff is very good, btw, Micke.
