JaffaCake,

I thought I could give write a few lines of constructive critiscm and trying to give a few helpful hints.

I'm not sure if you want to make a regular person or a more devil kind of guy (since he he's got spears out of his shoulders)..and, the way it's shaped can offcourse be flexible, as you've made him more "abstract" and roundshaped. I like your image as an abstract image, but you still need to give it some more work if it's suppose to be comic styled.
I thought I could just make a quick stereotypic character, trying to explain a nice way to work out a b/w comic image.

1. first offcourse do a very quick line sketch of what you're thinking about and what you want to make...this I know you've done, but instead of starting off with circles, try to make some really quick lines of the overall more than each area, and be as basic as possible....try to illustrate the body and face expressions and the whole composition of the image as simple as possible.

2. shadows should be more planned out of one direction and don't get to hung up on certain area but the overall picture. like on my man it's from top left. Then it's a lot easier and a cleaner way to continue adding details.

Your picture looks more "artistic"...but for the the comic book b/w style, it's better to start with overall shapes in simple...then shadows and light, or detailing if it's lines only image.
oh, and another good thing to have in mind, is to try to keep a balance between the amount of black and white, unless there's a reason not to....look at Sin City by Frank Miller

Hope you don't feel offended by me barching in like this, I just want to give some constructive critiscm to make it easier for you doing your next image. And, I think it's easier to explain this by doing an example image more than brushing on your image.

hey thanks alot for spending your time m8.Thats helpful, I'll have ago at doing the whole shape in one cos I do tend to draw alot of circles (head, body, 3 parts of the arm and leg and so on). Oh and it was trying to be some kinda devilish guy, thats why he has no clothes but it was really just to have a go at something really. Thanks
