may i just add that it isn't finished yet and that I'm gonna make it so he's looking to the right (your right) as it already looks a bit like that. Then I'll prolly do some sorta doom scene in the background, hell I might even make a halflife map just to take a screenshot of an put in the background ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

I think it would greatly benefit you if you planned the whole piece out before starting on it. You should do several thumbnail sketches just to show where the character is in relation to things in the background.
Also try to get reference for the guys face. If you can't take photos look into a mirror and do some quick charcoal studies of the way the highlights and shadows go across your face.
I would make sure that if you do a screen shot and mix it with this shot you should paint or draw over the screen shot so they don't look like you just threw it in there.
Keep working there and make sure you observe how light works when there are cast shadows. Your piece will look great i'm sure. Just make sure you have fun.
What does "JaffaCake" mean anyway? |

woohoo a reply
k yeah I did have a look at it again last night and I see that the face does have some messed up shadows like on the right cheek it's just not right and i think i have sorted it I'll upload it a bit later and the 4head is wrong to the left. I do like the nose tho but my fav part is the left pec (thingy mc jiger) I like that thing about the thumbnails I'll do that. About light and that do you know any good books? or websites maybe. Ok about the name... I guess your not living in the UK, right? well there's this company called mc vities who make food (often really, really nice) and one of their products is Jaffacakes and they are my fav, they are like the size of a cookie but they are like spunge cake with tangy orangey stuff inside and chocolate on the top...so i named my self after em |

JaffaCakes, that sounds good!!
No here in the states we don't have those yet. One of my friends is going to England this summer so i'll have her bring me back some.
Some books about light and shadow? Well I would try some books on painting. Possibly oil painting. I have a book that I thought was very useful called "Problem Solving for Oil Painters" by Gregg Kreutz.
But keep in mind what I said about just observing how your face looks in a mirror or photos with the right light source. I learned more from observing than any books.
I hope this helps JaffaCake
Have fun in the UK
By the way what music are you into? I like a lot of UK music. Bye |

Those are some good bands. I like a lot of them but I also like these.
Underworld
Stereophonics
Death in Vegas
The Divine Comedy
Belle and Sebastian
Manic Street Preachers
Luna
Radiohead
Supergrass
Suede

Like I said I also like a lot of the music you mentioned.
I will count the days till Jaffa Cakes arrive. You should call them "The Cakes of Jaffa". Well maybe not.
