wow! fantastic! the lighting is perfect it doesnt even appear to be a digital peice, did you use markers ?
Only advice i coul give is that the right shoulder ( his left ) appears un balanced and maybe needs more highlights to pick it out. excellent work ! |

Thanks, glad you liked it.
el tigre- No, it's not Gollum, but it's a nice guess anyway.. :-)
Incarnation- Your'e absolutely right about his shoulder. I tend to have a problem with grasping volumes correctly.
As to the technique used- the entire image is painted in photoshop with a mouse, using the airbrush tool at a very low opacity (~8%) , with hard-edged brushes. I was actually aiming for a more natural look, rather than the smooth photoshopesque look i always ended up with. |

Welcome Bilbo,
Nice image -very nice shadowing and proportions. comments..The only thing that I think is a bit off, just shadow wise, is the ear.
Also, I agree with you, I don't think there's a artforum anywhere on the net as active as this....

Nice illustration, Bilbo. It does look very traditional. I hope you post more. |

If you don't loke the smoothness of the aribrush then I would recommend setting the tool on multiply, screen and normal as you paint along changing often between one and the other. Play around with it by painting some simple primitives with one or two light sources. |

wow nice...
it really look like Samiagoul i think... i mean the only creature that have eyes this big must have been in the darkness for ages ...besides only your name suggest that you were deeply inspired by J.R.R Tolkien books no? |
