this is a pic i spent about 12hrs on. of cource i did this with a single presure art pen, using photoshop 5. what do you think? do you have any helpful commentary for directions of lurning i should undertake to become better at this illustration thing?

good lord! that's a big file!
aside from that...
Spend some more time working with foreshortened figures. The axe and left leg are not working properly. Can only be solved by drawing alot..
It's as if you have 2 separate drawings. The figure and then the object the figure is standing on. The figure should cast a shadow, this will help "ground" the character, make it look as if he is actually touching the object.
The background and textures are great! You only need to work more with lighting and figure drawing.
Take some of those dark areas on the creature and put them into the object it's standing on.
Keep at it, you've got some nice stuff here.

I agree with Samdragon, but there's also something wrong with his upper body. I guess you tried to get the perspective right by making the lower upper body small, but it didn't get right.
I love the background and the atmospheric feeling, really nice work.

His right hand looks like it was purposely hidden behind the rock. It's better to learn how to draw hands than to hide then behind parts of scenery. |

your absolutly right. i do need to work harder on getting my figures to fit the enviornment. i'm new to this digital art thing and am more used to oil paints/pencil work. i will post something later that i'm happyer with. thank you for all your commentary.
