Hello everyone,
I just posted a new tutorial on my site by Master Painter Ron Lemen.
Even though this is not directly character animation related, it is
still an excellent tutorial! I hope that some of you find it valuable.
You can find it here.

or, you can view a little of Ron's work here

P.s. Ron, I know you're not on this list but, you kick asss!

He mentioned below most of his images: "This was done in gouache."
Just a quick question: what is gouache?

Yes, I posted the tutorial on my site with Ron's permission so that those that are not on this forum would get a chance to see it. I've got a few corections to make on it at which time I'll add a link back to the forum. Hopefuly he'll allow me to reprint/post future lessons there as well. He definatly kicks much butt!!! Thanks again Ron! |

gouache is evil unforgving water-color bane. Actually its just opaque water colors.. but never works right for me. The hard color edged style that micke and joachim have sometimes is gouache style

Yep. Gouache is a kind of water colour that
you can buy in tubes. It's a very thick paint. Check out Craig Mullin's "chef" Pic
for the real thing.

Gouache is easily tamed with a little bit of glycerin. Dab your brush in a bit and it keeps gouache from drying rapidly. |
