A quicky one (5 mins)
and a not so quicky one (2 hours)
Sorry for the lousy scans, thats was the best I can pull of. ALso resizing gave its best shot on screwing up the gray tones.
Hope you like em.....

hey, pretty sweet
but on the last pic, the guys left hand, looks "off", looks like it isn't connected to his arm.

This looks a little bit like my own style...not the characters but the way you have toned the pirate of the 2nd pic...
Great sketches but that hand is also "bothering" me, maybe it would be better if he "tighten" the stick more, and maybe you could let him lean more "against" the stick...

Thank you all, and you are right about the arm. I forgot to mention that. I wanted to do something totally different with it, but it would involve drawing the whole scene. And since I wanted to keep this drawing clean (remember, I don't use erasers)I didn't want to fuck it up. So, that stick came after I drawn the guy. Stupid mistake =)
B - who is Diterlizzi
tzekin - yeah, 1st one has more life to it than the 2nd. Interesting how impulsive stuff that you do on the go always look better than the ones you do almost mathematically correct.

Those sketches are really nice Derpunkt !
I really think you should post more of that kind of stuff, it gets me much more turned on than detailed faces drawn from magazines

Cool stuff derPunkt! I really like the first one, it's dynamic and eye-catching, great sketch...
The detailed one looks good too, but maybe you've even overworked it a bit - it feels sort of stiff compared to the quickie, and the detail drawing (like on his jacket) disturbs the overall values, making it a bit hard to see the overall form (though I'd guess the paper original looks better in this respect, scanners often aren't very kind to pencil drawings that are built on values more than lines )

Hahaa, Cos, no, you just keep your hand loose. I do alot of stuff like that, and after I go into detailed stuff. But this one looked great after 1st 3 lines when I got the action in it, so I just added a few black spots to round up the form
Sfr - yes, I totally agree with you, 1st one looks very alive, but the 2nd one is more of a commercial art, and you know how ppl want comm detailed
anyways, thanks for the support
