He's a classical painter and very good at
what he is doing:

Yeah, I've seen his stuff, he had an exposition here in Helsinki not long ago. He's a very good painter for sure!
Though I'm not really a big fan of the postmodernist aspect of his work (loading his images with double meanings and social and art historical references), but there's no way you can paint in a classic fashion today and be taken seriously as an artist unless you have something "clever" to show. And admittedly his stuff is more interesting than if he just painted endless still lifes in this manner...

How funny, I did a paper on him about two years ago. I never thought i would hear his name again. He had an interesting relation ship with his "father", at least who he thought was his father.
He does have some great paintings.

Yeah, i agree with Sfr, his motive are
not really stunning, like the "pissing lady"
without arms, but i think his technical skills are good, and he's good with colours
(maybe too much brown, but anyway).

*shivers*
These paintings are much more scary than any fantasy or horror painting. Characters are twisted, distorted and in agony. Filth and corruption shines thru his works. I can see dark ages, birth of industrialism and other forgotten times. I can also see high gap between rich and poor in his works.
Well, this stuff is too rough, I better be careful or I see nightmares next night.

Cool that other people than me like Odd Nerdrum! I've loved his art ever since I got a book with his paintings some years ago. His technical skills are extreme, but I also love his motives.. In my eyes, this is what art should be like.. There is so much feelings and story in his images.

Some years ago when my art class went to an art exhibition here in Oslo we actually met Odd Nerdrum.. oO! Its true! And I can tell you if you didn't allready know from his paintings; The man is craaazy

Wow. Just...wow.

The emotions and feelings expressed through these paintings are just....so vivid that words can't express them.

I love Nerdrum's work...he's one of my favorite artists now.

Although some of the images he portrays are grotesque, etc, they are part of life. The darker side of life is really shown through these. I like when artists show the side of life that is unbeknownst to many people, rather than candy-coating everything. Anyway...

Great.

Not only is he extremely talented, but his paintings go for a about 100000$ considering he sells a couple each year he`s not a poor man.
Also..they should be seen for real ..some are really BIG...not refering to his selfportrait where he`s showing of his "wood";-)
