The hair ? Um.. first i made a dark hair-like clump, softened it a bit, then painted many many small hairs with the smallest airbrush tool. Some people like to draw hair as clumps, some draw each hair individually. This way works the best for me. |

So you drew the blob of the hair shape (with lighter shades for the highlights I take it?) then went to town with the tiny airbrush. Sounds relatively straight-forward. Thanx
Has the drawing got any kind of texture applied to it- or is it just how the image was saved for the web?

Hey Klaivu! Nice job, but if I were to comment on it, I'd say the hair sticks out a lot because it's too defined compared to the rest of the pic -- also the outline of the figure is very sketchy (lips for example, which look a little odd btw). The creases in the skin of the neck I think should have sharp-cut lines -- it just looks lumpy now. There are a few extra things, but these are the ones that hit me the most initially.
Keep up the cool work Klaivu! =) |

Hair is fantastic. Neck looks like it's broken or has something very wrong with it. Lips look kinda wierd... need to poke out a little more and have a bit more body. Eyebrows are good but need to be softened up a little.
Who's the chick?

klaivu, a question and a comment.
First the comment, the hair is way too busy, and kinda wet mop like. No offense with the use of words, but that was my very first impression. Masses, think like you do with all the rest of the form, big simple planes with a minor amount of attenton paid to the details in the hair.
The question. Does she have her mouth open. It is very difficult to read. If it isn't supposed to be open, then your lower lip is awkwardly designed. If the mouth is open, there should be more separation between the lip planes, the far side of the bottom lip locks up into the top lip with a smooth transition.
One more thing I noticed, the construction of the nose is a little off. The baseof the nose is entirely detached from the facial plane. It should actually be attached half way through the bottom plane. If you would like, email me, and I will send you a tracing to explain what I mean, that way I wont have to go through the ordeal of attaching an image to my web page etc...
Good attempt overall... |
